Before I begin today's post... a Public Service Announcement!
If you log into Path of Exile any time before January 8th, open the shop, then check your microtransaction stash, you'll have a free Mystery Box!
I got a new portal effect today from my freebie, and it is snazzy! I love it! This shall be my new portal forevermore! š Funnily enough, my partner's box contained the same portal effect... don't know if we're just lucky or if that's the only thing in the free holiday box. š
Now, back to our scheduled programming.
In my last post we met Alexandria Kael, new founder and matriarch of the upcoming Kael Dynasty, and discovered her love of journalism.
Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed she went to work for the first time, discovered the reality of her lowly role at News HQ, and decided that she was a clown.
Also, if the game corrupted again then I, too, would be a clown.
Luckily, the game hasn't acted stupid yet! So we can continue this Kael Dynasty! š For the time being... *pessimistic.*
The next day, filled with disappointment at having to return to her lowly papergirl position at News HQ, Alexandria stood in front of the mirror and brushed her teeth for a solid hour.
While she stood there, brushing back and forth, up and down, round and round, she contemplated life, her existence, and how she could better prove herself at her job so she no longer had to scurry around, dodging crumpled paper balls and putting them in the bin for the real journalists.
At last she decided, instead of going to work she would call in sick and write twenty articles of her own! She'd submit them at the end of the day, while "sick", and they would be so pleased with her attitude and commitment she would surely get promoted!
It worked!
She went to work as normal the next day, and left as a full-feathered journalist! There would be no more scurrying around for crumpled floor-paper. She would be the one flinging them over her shoulder and deliberately aiming them at the paperboys and papergirls. Muahaha!
To celebrate her newfound position, Alexandria went to the park and accosted everyone who dared cross her path! Even those in the public bathrooms.
"Can I interview you!?" she shrieked, waving her notepad and pen in the air. "It's for the news!"
Most people declined her advances, but there were a few who were happy to relay her with every tidbit of gossip they had available. She would use it all and create the best news this side of Sunset Valley.
When she couldn't find any more people to harass, she thought long and hard about other ways she could retrieve information. Suddenly, she remembered the cranky young man with the annoying baby she had met on her first day in this city.
She looked through the database, found where he lived, and after determining that no-one was home, she rubbed her hands with glee and rummaged through his bin. She would get all the dirt possible on that guy and write the worst article. Soon no-one in this city would like him!
He rejected her friendship, now everyone would reject him.
After rummaging through his bin for a while, she somehow found some juicy gossip buried at the bottom and with her mission complete she decided to celebrate with some delicious lunch.
On her way to the restaurant, she came across one of her co-workers, Connor.
Soon they were talking about their shared love for grilled cheese sandwiches, and then one thing led to another, another thing led to another another thing...
And by the end of their grilled cheese lunch and impromptu cinema visit, they were sharing extreme public displays of affection for all the town to see.
Alexandria Kael was a bonafide journalist, she now had a boyfriend -- who had magical fairy powers, no less! -- and the whole town would be reading her words on the morrow.
Life was good!
