In the last Starbound post we met the fresh Floran named Autumnia and watched as she begun her journey in a very similar manner to how The Doomed One once began her journey!
Since I didn't want to repeat the write-up of that particular journey, briefly: Autumnia has now matched The Doomed One's progress in that her ship has been repaired, she's wearing Tungsten armour, and is now adventuring among the stars.
Before leaving the Starter System though, once I was able to examine it thanks to getting my ship repaired, I noticed that this system had a lot more in it than the Doomed One's starter system.
There were a few hostile ships, a strange ancient vault (which, after Googling, is apparently end-game stuff, but you can find them everywhere), and a research station.
Curious about the research station, Autumnia went and had a looksie.
There wasn't much inside. There were a few items I took from several crates which are apparently for building things for my mech. I've never upgraded the mech before, so I'm not too sure what to do with these pieces, but I'll work it out!
Then, after travelling around on some random elevators, there was a quest in the final room! I could have my very own space station built if I give a bunch of materials to her (or other NPC like her). That sounded cool! I accepted the quest, though I wouldn't have the materials for quite some time.
In my search for MOAR TUNGSTEN because I want a hefty supply of it at the ready for crafting purposes, I found the fabled Healing Water which I hastily stole.
After researching, apparently you used to be able to bottle the healing water and drink it like a potion, but that's no longer in the game. But you can still stand in it and it heals you, and I plan on making a giant lake of the stuff where my future base will be.
Underground I found several tombs which I desecrated and looted, as you do. 😅
And then I found this random lady just lurking in the darkness underground!
There was a cute cat-ears headpiece in one of the crates which I hurriedly equipped. They look cute! And then I ventured further past the woman's room and found her storage supply.
She had a MASSIVE 60-slot storage chest hidden down there. So I stole it. This is going straight to the pool room! The woman didn't complain about this theft, so I stole the rest of her things too.
Yoink!
You may or may not remember that The Doomed One of my previous Starbound tale had a quest to give a teddybear to a baby bear. She died before she could complete that promise.
Well, this time Autumnia fulfilled this promise.
As a reward, the bears opened their shop and I now have access to current-level metal ingots and pickaxes!!
Pickaxes are so good in this. They're rare to find out and about, and you mostly use your Matter Manipulator tool when digging, but when you find the pickaxes (or in this case buy them) they're a boon that can help you power through annoying blocks that would otherwise take significantly longer.
I'm glad I made his boy-bear a toy-bear!
Back onto the planet I was exploring, I came across a Floran hunting ground. The people there didn't care that I, too, was a Floran and started attacking me. Hunting me.
So I hunted them back!
I mostly stuck around because the little old lady at the space station wanted me to investigate Floran artifacts, and, well, here were many Floran artifacts!
I survived the hunting grounds, studied every artifact that I found, and I soon got a message from the little old lady asking me to return to her at the space station. She had some new information for me.
Instead, I waltzed around the planet some more and found some leaves for my Floran to wear! Too bad they're not in autumn colours, but Autumnia doesn't mind too much.
Having never done it before, I investigated what heading back to the little old lady means, and it means the second dungeon of the game will be opening up. I'm... going to get a little bit stronger and more armoured up before even attempting a dungeon I've never done before in Hardcore mode. 🤣
Sure, I've got Tungsten armour right now, but there are many more tiers and strength-levels to go! I'm going to make sure I'm OP as hell before I waltz into the unknown.
