In my last Starbound post, Autumnia had landed on a desert planet in search of oil and very quickly found bucketloads! She also discovered an Avian Temple and a Glitch village and actually completed their quests which didn't result in her death!
Amazing.
At this point in this new hardcore game, Autumnia has well surpassed the previous tale of The Doomed One and is now in search of a new planet to call her home.
I went to the nearest Gentle Star which is still around my level of armour, so shouldn't be too difficult. I probably won't find any upgrades here, weapon and armour-wise, but that's okay... I'm just exploring and hoping to find a nice looking planet.
I'm not sure what I really want in a planet. There are soooo many possible generations in this game. But I don't want somewhere that looks toooo Earth-like, but fantasy-ish would be spiffy. It also has to have normal rain, and no toxic rain or meteor showers, and a village would be nice.
If there is no village, I can always make my own... but a pre-existing one would be spiffy.
There are only two planets in this system, a Lush one and a Forest. I choose to visit the forest first.
And of course, it's night time! So I have to wait it out til morning. 😅 Luckily there's a little abandoned shack nearby!
Soon it was daytime and I could finally explore this planet! And see what it looked like during the day. Very important since I care about the aesthetics of my new home. 😜
I found a compound of evil, mad scientists who were worshipping Big Ape. I didn't explore the compound, I kept running.
Then I found a random merchant, just by his lonesome.
He happened to be selling fridges! So I bought four of the things for the new kitchen in my future base and kept on exploring.
And then I happened upon a village of quiet, non-talkative frog-people.
This planet seemed interesting for exploration purposes, but I wasn't really interested in it for a possible home and that was my main agenda at the moment. It was time to go back to my spaceship and have a look at the next planet.
Despite it being night-time, straight away I can tell that this is another earth-like planet. The trees look nice though!
After a few moments of exploring, I come across a portal that I can unlock with 20 core fragments 🤣 obviously this particular earth-like planet is a possible starting planet. Thus, this planet was no good. BUT. Being a starter planet, that meant there should be heaps of vegie seeds around, and cotton. So I explored to find those things then beamed back to my ship.
Not wanting to bore you too much with my hunt for a home planet xD I went to system after system, and it took me quite a long while, but I finally found something worthy of calling home.
In a system with a Temperate sun instead of a Gentle one, I found a planet with a bizarre eyeball biome, a Novakid village, and a snazzy looking forest.
I decided that a nice swathe of forest close to the Novakid village would be the perfect spot to set up my base. 😄
So I cleared away a bunch of trees, flattened the land, and removed some of the leaves from underground and replaced it with the nice blue dirt just for appearances sake.
I'm not too sure just how I want my base to look yet, but I figured a typical wooden start wouldn't go astray. I plan of having a technological area underground which will be my storage area, and of course a stone blacksmithery area.
There are so many different blocks and materials in this game, that it's a little bit hard to choose. 😅
So I thought that I'd make a Floran entrance. I'd like just one more Floran artifact or something to go on the left. Will need to find something worthy.
I've started the blacksmithery area. Just storing all the crafting tables on the roof for now. xD Until I have placement areas for them. I need to go on an adventure to find more things for my blacksmithery, and I want to dig down a little beneath it and make a dungeon too. Muahaha!
Because I didn't place down any flags to go back to previous locations I may have found while planet-hunting xD I had to find all new ones! So it was back to the space ship to go hunting for house treasures.
I fought a few groups of cultists on this journey, and rummaged through their chests for their goods.
And I found a Floran village pretty mush straight away! Which was a nice find to finish off my Floran entrance. I also found some weapons on racks which I put in my Blacksmithery.
What I'd like to find next is a Glitch village. They have a lot of medieval-looking things, so will be perfect for my blacksmithery and possibly dungeon too.
I don't really like the look of the Floran weapon-display I put in there, so a medieval weapon-display would be great. The Novakid village nearby could have some interesting things too, since they're all Western and stuff, might have some jail-dungeon-stuff.
And I would also like to find another Big Ape compound — not the village of friendly people, but a compound of the evil genetic scientists. There's a lot of fancy looking technological things in their compounds.
And I'm still trying to work out how I'll like my kitchen to look. A normal Big Ape village might be good for that too. They have a lot of retro 70's furniture and things, so might be able to do up a stylish kitchen and lounge with that.
We'll see how it goes! 😁
Until next time! 😄
