This time done right. At least, it started so.
This time, I am using the layers feature and making each element easy to edit and change so that when I get to preparing all the different cards for print and then play testing, I shall be quick to align all the stuff and in relatively good visual fashion.
Each block, each field of text can be replaced.
Even...the colored borders. They play their own role in the game. There are mechanics which care about the border type, recognizable by the color. So I got templates of all four combinations:
Earth - Sea
Earth - Earth
Sea - Earth
Sea - Sea
Above — a template for printing. Of course, our paper saving creed requires at least one more set of cards to be laid on the same sheet.
And the steps that lead us there:
Drawing guiding lines over the semi-opaque image of the initial hand-drawn card design.
This way I know which zone is where. Correct proportions and positions are all we need for now.
Only time shall tell how fast am I going to arrange and prepare all of the fifty or so cards. But the time this Saturday shall be right and I shall not tarry overmuch. Work shall be worked.
As you can see, even here there are different colors and positions among the images I use as examples. Ochre turning to grey, turning to white, etc.
The shapes, the textures, the everything except for the illustrations...and sometimes, even them.
If you're not familiar with the game project, let me tell you it will be, at first, a card game about Vikings exploring the Great Unknown.
