For those of us who regularly spend time in the world of Splinterlands, each card has a different value. Sometimes we make big decisions out of emotion or in the rush to improve our game strategy. Recently, I had an incident that was both educational and disappointing. However, if I hadn't made this mistake, I might not have had such a clear understanding of an important rule of the game. Today, I will share with you how I made a major misunderstanding while upgrading a card in Death Splinter.
One of the cards on my favourite list is Gravebrand Warlock. It is a very powerful card from the Canisan tribe. Its design and abilities are impressive. Especially the blue fire effect of the card and the magic wand in its hand give the card a different royal feel. Seeing the power of the card, I decided to take it to the max level, that is, level 8. I already had this card at level 4. The path to go from level 4 to level 8 in one jump was not very easy. I had to spend a good amount of money on it. Since it is a high-level card, the cost was quite good considering the number of cards and the market price.
When I finally reached the max level by combining the cards, my happiness knew no bounds. I thought that from now on, I would be able to use the full power or full ability of this card in battle. Those of you who know about this card are surely aware of its abilities. At level 8, this card gains all the deadly abilities like Swiftness, Execute, and Soul Siphon. The Soul Siphon ability in particular has the power to turn the game around. It allows the card to revive after it dies if there is a non-Weary card on the field. With this hope in mind, I prepared to start the battle.
When the battle started, I used my Natural Death Summoner. But when the cards entered the field in the battle, I noticed that Gravebrand Warlock was not showing any of its level 8 abilities. Instead, it was behaving like a normal level card. I was quite worried about why the card's special abilities were not working. Many questions arose in my mind that I had successfully upgraded the card, and it was now at max level, so why was I not getting the benefits? I thought maybe there was a glitch or a mechanical problem.
To clear my confusion, I went to the Splinterlands community without delay and asked. I explained that I had Death Splinter's natural summoner and my Gravebrand Warlock card was maxed out, but why wasn't I getting the full ability? The answer I got from them literally made me dizzy. They explained to me that, according to the game rules, no matter what the level of the card is, it is controlled by the level of the summoner. The natural summoner I had was only level 4. According to the mechanics of Splinterlands, you will never get the full benefits of a level 8 card with a level 4 summoner. If you want to use all the power of a level 8 card, your summoner will also have to be at that ratio or level 8.
I was very sorry to hear this. Due to a little misunderstanding or lack of correct information, quite a few of my dollars are now lying idle in one place. If I want to use this card now, I will have to invest more and take my Summoner to level 8. Otherwise, this max level card will perform like a level 4 card. This was a big lesson for me that it is necessary to understand the entire system well before making any major investments or upgrades in the game.
However, what is done is done. Once I have updated, there is no way to go back. Since the card is at max level, now I will slowly try to take my Summoner to level 8 as well. It may cost time and some more money, but in the future, I will be able to enjoy the real power of this card. The main purpose of sharing this experience with you is so that no one else makes the same mistake as me. In the Splinterlands game, it is not only necessary to have strong cards but also to have a strong Summoner to run those cards. Only by maintaining this balance can we expect good results in the game. For now, I'm patiently focusing on upgrading my Sumner and keeping this valuable learning in mind for the future.
