Hello there.
Have you guys watched the Fallout series that just came out recently? As someone who hasn't played any of the Fallout games, but has an idea of the general plot, I really enjoyed it. I like the main characters a lot. Lucy's happy disposition and naivety works as a good contrast to the dark and desolate world outside the vault she came from. Cooper Howard and Maximus were also endearing in their own right, and their character development is really good.
But this post isn't really about the series, but more of the games. I know I said I haven't played any of the games, but after watching the series, I actually wanted to play the games and experience the world of Fallout for myself. For those of you that are in the same boat, you're in luck because Fallout 3 is available right now for free; but there's a catch. This is only available for Prime subscribers. Full disclosure, I don't have Prime, but I'm just sharing the info to you guys.

For those of you who don't know [I only found out a few years ago], Amazon Prime offers a lot of perks for gamers [I am not sponsored by Amazon haha]. The one I was initially familiar with was the free Prime sub for Twitch, but there is still more. Amazon has a constantly changing free games available to redeem and add to your library. I believe they add new games every month but the free games are available for different lengths of time [Some are available until July, some up to August]. They give codes that you can redeem in different gaming platforms. As you can see below, they have ones for GOG, and Epic Games. The Crown is with the Amazon Games app, and the snowflake looking one is from Legacy Games.

Apart from the free games, Amazon Prime also gives in-game content for different games. These are the ones available when I checked from my end while writing this. They also have other benefits for Twitch users like exclusive emotes, and if you're interested you can check out the "Learn more" in the website.

Going back to the topic of this post, the Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition is free for Amazon Prime subscribers until June 13, 2024 [I don't know the specific time]. For those coming in after watching the series, Fallout 3 is an action RPG where you control a character who grew up in a fallout shelter, and leaves to track down their father who left the shelter [kind of reminds me of what happened to Lucy]. Since the series and the game is set in the same world/universe, series watchers will experience familiar terms, objects, and maybe even landscapes. From what I've read, the Fallout series happens in 2296 which is set in the future from the games. So playing the games can give a lot of context to some unanswered questions for series viewers. For gamers, the Fallout franchise is well known, and for those who haven't played Fallout 3, getting this GOTY edition is perfect.

The link to the game page is in the quote above, but the link looks so janky that I suggest you just go to the Prime Gaming website https://gaming.amazon.com/home, and click the game. The code you will receive can be redeemed in GOG. Please note that this is only available in areas that Prime Gaming is available [according to the website, Prime Gaming isn't available in Russia, China, and embargoed territories].
For those that don't have or don't want to pay for Prime, you can still get the game with a trial account. Just subscribe to Amazon Prime/Prime Gaming, and cancel anytime [unsubscribe as well so you don't get charged next month]. This is common to a lot of subscription services, and I know that some people might frown upon this practice. I personally don't/wont do this, and just placed this here so people are informed. The other option is to just ask friends or family members who have Prime. If they are not gamers or are not interested in the game, then you can ask them to claim it for you, and to give you the code [this is what I'll do].
I noticed that there is an ongoing giveaway of Fallout 3 GOTY, that expires on June 12, and is redeemable in GOG. I think it is safe to say that this is also from Prime Gaming. So for those that just realized they have Prime, have a relative who can give them a code, or those who will be subscribing, you can maybe give up your chance to those who don't/can't have Prime. Or don't, up to you, I'm not forcing anyone.
What would be even better is if there are Prime owners that already have Fallout 3, or don't want Fallout 3 [like the current giveaway]. You can maybe give out your code to those who want it. Sharing is caring, and could go a long way to making another gamer's day better. I don't really know the best way to do that, maybe talk to the guys in the Hive Gaming discord to help set it up [they can maybe approve you posting a giveaway, give the codes to other entrants in the current giveaway, or holding the giveaway there in discord].
