Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.
After the deadly encounter with Flukeworm in the Royal Waterways, I managed to find a way out from the western part of the map and it connected with the Fungal Wastes.
Fungul waste is a big chunk of the Hallownest Kingdom placed just below the Forgotten Crossroads. From the map, you can see there are a lot of areas to be explored and charted on the map.
I was at the bottom of the Fungal Waste and planned to go to the Mantis Village. I could see a big open area that looked like it was accessible and I missed it during my last visit. But at that time I didn't have much movement abilities so perhaps that was unreachable.
Anyways, I fought with many Mantis along the way. There were some flying types too. They had a predictable striking pattern so it was not too difficult.
I entered the Mantis village, there were a lot of mantis guarding this area. Had to kill a bunch of them.
There were some challenging platforming sections as well which had some nice loot. I was expecting some rare artefacts or a charm if I am lucky, but all I got was loads of Geos (not bad either).
There was a huge well and you can't miss it if you go straight but the last time I used the other path that lead me out of there. lol
I jumped in without thinking twice. It was not a long drop.
Now it was an even more challenging platforming section full of deadly thorns. Traversing through that was not easy but once you do it you can unlock the short path so you don't have to do it all again if you die and have to come back.
Mantis Lords
After killing some more mantis on my way, I dropped down to a big arena and in the backdrop three Mantis Lords were sitting. At first, I ignored them and tried to see what is on the other side but a huge gate just closed so I had no option but to challenge them to a fight!
Only one guy comes to attack at first and he was so fast!
Not only he is fast but throws a spinning blade like a boomerang. If you manage to defeat the first one then the rest two joins the first. Handling both of them at the same time is not easy, especially with their boomerang attacks and quick drop attacks.
Naturally, I died a few times before defeating them. Here is the fight that I recorded and uploaded to Youtube.
I was at my last health point when I managed to defeat them.
Into the Deepnest
Once you defeat the Mantis Lords, they will give you a safe passage to the next zone called the Deepnest. All other mantis in the area will become passive and won't attack you.
This is a dark and scary place...even Cornifer, the Cartographer was scared and hiding behind a rock when we found him.
He was right, this place is indeed creepy with paths like a maze and in darkness it gets much worse. Some bugs just emerge right from the ground and sometimes the ground breaks dropping you onto spikes.
Having a map is crucial and getting a map early was such a relief. It was not the best of maps. Cornifer was too scared to chart out the full map and just filled a fraction of it.
This has to be the creepiest place of all the Hallownest. So many crawling bugs ready to munch on you!
One interesting bug is the huge centipede that constantly runs through the deepenest digging long tunnels. Their shells are armored and they can't be damaged so you must cross only after one has just left.
Many twists and turns later I fell down a big tunnel which took me straight to the bench. That was a nice surprise.
I rested on the bench and thought about my next move. That was my second bench in this area. I can't go up now so I have to find a new way. No wonder the Mantis Lords were testing my abilities whether I can survive in this dark place.
That's it from me this time, I will try to get out from here and go pay a visit to Grub's father and that charm seller lady. I need more charms and charm notches. I still see a lot of paths that lead in different directions.
Thanks for reading...
Until next time...
