Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.
I have been a lot of games lately and one of my current favourites is Hollow Knight. I made a lot of progress since my last post. It is one of those games where once you pick up the controller you will forget about everything and just before you notice it's almost morning.
I was going through the dangerous section of Fungal Waste. It is full of creatures ready to attack you. Although most of the section was accessible some doors were closed and part of the challenge was to find another way to reach those rooms/sections.
I reached the bottom of the Fungal Waste and my enemies changed from mushroom and plant-based bugs to huge mantis. They strike at a great pace and some of them even fly and attack you from the air.
Fortunately, there was a bench at the very bottom of the section which helped me to recover most of my lost health.
There was a special room at the bottom with a big statue of a bug called, "The Dashmaster" and at the feet of that statue was a charm (dashmaster). Once equipped it gives the ability to even dash downwards.
I had to backtrack and go up again as there was still some uncharted room left to explore. And I am glad I did. One of those rooms led me to a slightly different-looking area heavily guarded by Mantis bugs.
I found a very useful movement ability called, the "Mantis Claw". This allows me to jump from a wall while sliding along it. This is a massive one and will unlock many new sections of the map.
One of the sections had a poisonous lake and a high cliff which I can now go up to. There was no other way but to cross it after getting the Mantis Claw.
Using all the movement abilities (jump, wall jump and dash), I had to cross a challenging section with thorns and a poisonous lake underneath. This was way more challenging platforming area than any part of the map I have ever been to. And I think it is going to become more difficult as I gather more abilities.
On the other side of the lake, there was a lever which just formed a bridge over the pool so the next time I don't have to take the difficult path. There was a big knight statue on this side with a slot. I inserted the "City Crest" which I got from defeating the False Knight (not very sure).
City of Tears
Once I inserted the City Crest into the statue, a big gate opened up only to be closed after I crossed it. I was into a new section of the map called the "City of Tears"
I saw my old friend Quirrel sitting on the bench contemplating whether he should go further into the city. This city has very melancholic vibes, the constant rain and sad music fit perfectly to the aesthetics of this area. This was once a buzzing capital of Hollownest.
I saw a strange nail/sword signpost pointing in the left direction so I went there and there was a strange-looking hut glowing from inside. I went in thinking it is a weapon shop or something.
It was the Nailsmith's place who offered to upgrade my nail in exchange for some Geos. I made the trade and he worked on my nail and made it much stronger. For the next upgrade to my nail, I need something called a 'Pale Ore'.
I found another rare artefact, the Hollownest seal. It was worn by the knights and I picked it up close to a corpse who might be a knight in the Hollownest kingdom.
I saw a big statue in the middle of the city. Suddenly, Hornet came as well and was surprised by our resilience.
This was a statue of the "Hollow Knight", who sacrificed himself (somehow) to save this city. And she told us to "seek the Grave in Ash" (wherever that is). Why won't she tell us everything already... xD
So, the 'Temple of Black Egg' which we saw in the Forgotten Crossroads is somehow connected to Hollow Knight's sacrifice. We need to kill three dreamers or some sort of Boss to open the vault and find out more about this hero of Hollownest.
Another interesting location is a tunnel which seems to be going down. It is locked with a simple key. I know where to buy one though. Way back in the Dirtmouth. This might lead me to another section but I still need to find Cornifer, the cartographer and obtain a map of this section. I am so confused in this big city with lots of diverging paths. But that's the most beautiful part of this game you will love the exploration and there is a new thing at every corner of the map.
That's it from me for this time. Let me know if you played Hollow Knight and if you love it as much as I do.
Thanks for reading...
Until next time...
