Hello and welcome back to my blog.
It's been a long since I shared a new update on our Minetest world hosted by the Neoxian City! Now that I had enough resources in this survival minetest world, an open-source alternative to the original Minecraft, I decided to make a castle.
This is a big building project that I took up and most of my time went on collecting the raw building blocks, smelting them and going back to mine more and again finding out I need a lot more. I started working on this week ago but it is still unfinished, however, I want to share my progress with you all so I can get more motivation to complete this project.
I used polished stone and stone bricks heavily in this castle and most of my time was spent mining thousands of cobblestones and smelting them in the furnaces. Fortunately, I had enchanted diamond gear but it still took a lot of time.
It is still not complete, I want to add a big tower-like structure on the left side which would have a spiral staircase like the ones we saw in many games, Prince of Persia comes to mind instantly. Also, it is just a barebone structure from the outside, it needs more lightning and volume on the outer walls.
Another vital part that I want to change is the outer land and make it more beautiful with trees, shrubs, other structures and possibly a moat (that would be so cool!).
The Kitchen
Every castle should have a nice kitchen, so here is mine. In this small space, I have a kitchen counter, a round table in the middle, some smokers on the other side to cook the food, chests and barrels to store the cooked food and most important a chimney.
I might change the wood flooring to something else. I don't like it much, to be honest.
The prison
Well, I have a prison as well. There are two cells on both ends of this big room. I will trap some monsters and torture them there. Especially those Creepers. Hate those guys xD
A Storage Room
A castle has to have a treasure room to hold all the riches! I build a simple room with chests and barrels. Sadly, most of them are empty but my people don't know. Don't you dare tell them!!
The Throne Room
I still have a lot of work to do in this throne room. It needs some incredible paintings, an excellent carpet and some more much-needed lighting.
The Guest Room
This turned out to be the best room in my castle so far. I love this trick of using 2 beds to make a single big bed. The only thing I don't like in this room is the walls, I might need to add more decorations but the rest of the room is beautiful. We have some big double chests and barrels as extra storage space in this room as well.
King's Room
Just over the guest room, on the topmost floor of the castle, I have the King's room. This has to be on top even though it meant we have to take the stairs every time. I have not done the interior of this room and it has to be done precisely, I don't want to screw up this room.
The most interesting part is the huge windows from where I can keep a close eye on the nearby village. All of the houses are located there and I might create a bridge over the water to connect this island with the village.
The other side of the room faces an ocean. You can stand on the balcony and have a good view of the entire sea. Look at those cows and horses casually walking on water LOL!
Armoury
On the ground floor, I also have an armoury where I can pick up a variety of tools and weapons. I added some armour stands and chests as well along with the blocks to repair and make those weapons.
There are some watch towers as well and a guard can keep an eye on many activities by standing up here. You can also see a well and a stable for my horse which is still a work in progress like the rest of the build.
Here is how the castle looks at dawn, as I already stated, it needs some more lightning on the outside.
I also have a library too but I will show you that another day, I am still fixing a lot of things there. All of this took me a lot of time. I think at least 30+ hours if you count the actual collection of resources, smelting and making everything, going to nether for some rare things and of course building it one block at a time. But I have learnt a lot of cool building hacks and tricks and I am proud of this Castle. I guess you will appreciate it, our Queen! You are an impressive artist yourself.
