On this occasion, since my bomber squadrons were still undergoing repairs at the base, I decided to support my armor and mechanized infantry units with cruise missiles. After a heavy bombardment that decimated the enemy's urban defenses, I moved in with a tank division and successfully occupied the city. However, the victory triggered an unexpected and fierce defensive reaction from the local population.

To my surprise, the fall of the city immediately generated three partisan guerrilla units in the surrounding area. In Freeciv, this phenomenon occurs when a civilization is technologically advanced enough to have researched "Guerrilla Warfare." These units represent the organized resistance of the populace. Initially, I thought neutralizing them would be a simple task, but I quickly realized that the mountainous terrain was a logistical nightmare for my heavy armor and mechanized units. The lack of mobility in the heights turned my superior tech into a disadvantage.

After losing a couple of units in the rugged terrain, I decided to take drastic measures to avoid further attrition. I chose to bombard the mountains directly with additional cruise missiles and deployed my bombers, even though they hadn't fully recovered their operational status. I eventually managed to suppress the resistance, but the sheer ferocity and defensive bonuses of those partisans impressed me. This event forced me to reconsider my strategy: it is clear that simple ground occupations are no longer enough against a high-tech enemy.

This victory makes it evident that I will need to rely much more heavily on missile and rocket saturation for future Dahomean targets. I have noticed that they are developing technologically at an alarming rate. If I don't maintain a relentless pace of destruction, they could eventually win the game by launching a successful space race. The war has entered a stage where technological superiority must be met with overwhelming industrial force and calculated aerial strikes to ensure the hegemony of our Republic.

Iniciaba los preparativos para continuar la guerra en el continente del norte, enfocándome esta vez en tomar una ciudad dahomeyana muy pequeña para mantener la presión estratégica. En esta ocasión, como mis escuadrones de bombarderos se encontraban todavía en reparación, decidí apoyar a las unidades de blindados e infantería mecanizada con misiles de crucero. Luego de un gran bombardeo que diezmó las defensas urbanas, entré con una unidad de blindados y tomé la ciudad con éxito. Sin embargo, la victoria desencadenó una reacción defensiva inesperada y feroz.

Para mi sorpresa, la caída de la ciudad generó inmediatamente tres unidades de guerrillas partisanas en los alrededores. En Freeciv, este fenómeno ocurre cuando una civilización está lo suficientemente avanzada como para haber investigado la tecnología de "Guerra de Guerrillas". Estas unidades representan la resistencia organizada de la población. Al principio, pensé que neutralizarlos sería una tarea sencilla, pero pronto me di cuenta de que el terreno montañoso era una pesadilla logística para mis blindados e infantería mecanizada. La falta de movilidad en las alturas convirtió mi superioridad en una desventaja.

Luego de perder un par de unidades en lo accidentado del terreno, decidí tomar medidas drásticas para evitar más desgaste. Opté por bombardear las montañas directamente con más misiles de crucero y desplegué mis aviones bombarderos, a pesar de que aún no se habían recuperado totalmente. Finalmente logré someter la resistencia, pero la fiereza y los bonos defensivos de esos partisanos me impresionaron mucho. Este evento me obliga a reconsiderar mi estrategia: está claro que las ocupaciones terrestres simples ya no son suficientes contra un enemigo de alta tecnología.

Esta victoria hace evidente que tendré que depender mucho más de la saturación de misiles y cohetes para los próximos objetivos dahomeyanos. He notado que se están desarrollando tecnológicamente a pasos agigantados. Si no mantengo un ritmo de destrucción implacable, eventualmente podrían ganar la partida si logran desarrollar una carrera espacial exitosa. La guerra ha entrado en una etapa donde la superioridad tecnológica debe ser enfrentada con fuerza industrial abrumadora y ataques aéreos calculados para asegurar la hegemonía de nuestra República.
