Welcome gamers, today I’m pleased to talk to you about Metal Slug, an action game that was very popular in arcade machines and that I was able to replay it a few days ago.
To start, this games takes us to a place of misadventures with a young soldier and his partner, the later can be selected by a second player. These boys’ mission is about defeating an evil general and his hundred of stupid and extravagant minions in the middle of a war conflict.
To accomplish this mission, our heroes have an impressive and varied arsenal; we can obtain one of these weapons every time we free a prisoner, they are dispersed throughout the missions of this adventure. A deadly rocket launcher, an Uzi submachine gun, 9mm guns and a powerful tank are only some of the examples of the weaponry we can use.
The backgrounds of each of the missions in the game look amazing enough to be worthy of being made into wallpapers. Giant falls, warships, houses in ruins or a giant snowy mountain are all part of the spectacular view that we will discover and destroy in our way.
I must say that the graphics and animations are the most creative and outstanding part of the game. The decoration in the stages, the colors, the enemies’ gestures when they are about to attack us with a strong weapon make it impossible to hold back laughter, and that’s because this title makes good use of its ridiculous sense of humor.
The music is very well made and reminds me a lot of the soundtrack of war movies with the sound of drums that go along with a loud and exciting orchestra.
The sound effects are varied and great; among them we have the screams of the characters, the sound of the weapons when fired or big explosions that fit perfectly with the music.
The way the adventure develops has a very exciting rhythm and puts our characters in some really crazy and hilarious situations, there’s no moment in the game when we feel like no longer looking at the screen or letting go of our controller until we finish the game.
In conclusion, the creators of this game made an amazing job. It’s obvious when you look at it, the graphics, the atmosphere of the backgrounds and how colorful even the smallest detail is. And if that wasn’t enough, the gameplay is really fun. If you played Contra or if you liked Cuphead, I recommend it strongly, but have in mind that playing it with someone else makes the experience much more enjoyable.
