[GAMEPLAY] In Elden Ring, players control a customizable player character on a journey to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord. The game is presented through a third-person perspective, with players freely roaming its interactive open world. Gameplay elements include combat using several types of weapons and magic spells, horseback riding, and crafting.

[STORY] Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, a fictional landmass ruled over by several demigods. It was previously ruled over by the immortal Queen Marika, who acted as keeper of the Elden Ring, a powerful force that manifested as the physical concept of order. When Marika eventually shattered the Elden Ring and disappeared, her demigod children began warring over pieces of the Ring in an event called the Shattering. Each demigod possesses a shard of the Ring called a Great Rune, which corrupts them with power. In the game, the player character is a Tarnished, one of a group of exiles from the Lands Between who are summoned back after the Shattering. As one of the Tarnished, the player must traverse the realm to repair the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.

Today's post is about battling the Ancient Dragon Lansseaux in Altus near the Capital of Leyendell

Here I am in Altus near a sword grave-yard, creeping up on a Leyendell Knight.

After buffing up my attack damage, I backstab him which leads to a cool animation.

It wouldn't be an Elden Ring post without a Lightning Spear incantation.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Altus environment's color scheme: the monotone orange and yellow results in a lot of things blending into each other.

I finish off the knight with a sword strike to the chest.

There are times when Altus looks halfway decent -- but it just feels like a mixture of very similar shades of pea soup.

Here's a close-up of my character -- it's hard to tell but my Tarnished is a woman under that mask and armor.

I ground-slam some scout buddies with a Dragon Claw incantation.

Did I mention that there's random lightning strikes here in Altus?
These can be annoying while running around for crafting ingredients -- them and the electric-rolling sheep.

After killing the scout behind the knight, I wait for him to close the distance between us so I can launch my big-hand spell.

These dragon-claws slice straight through this Leyendell Knight's golden armor.

What a nice trophy for this kill -- their helmet.

Here I am getting zapped by lightning while picking Fulgurblooms.
In Elden Ring, it's even dangerous to pick flowers.

Other than the lightning, there's not a lot of ways to die where I am other than electric sheep so I'm curious how this guy died.

Why would someone need encouragement to pick up a few yellow flowers.

Oh ... sh*t!

Run, run, run!

I remember fighting this dragon before but it strangely flew away I hit with a few giant fire balls.

And yes, who could forget the lightning sword it summons from the sky!

Luckily it's a pretty slow strike so I just teleport through it.

It's funny to be chased by this dragon due to how slow it moves -- it never lunges or sweeps me with its tail.

One of my strategies with big bosses is to get right under it and attack the belly.

Black Flames is pretty effective here -- strike one!

And ... Lansseaux is airborn.

I'm surprised this dragon doesn't have a lightning-stream attack that fires from its mouth ... feels like a missed opportunity.

Frenzied Burst is one of my favorite incantations -- quick and has range.

It almost looks like this dragon is trying to hide from me in the trees.

I can't get over how badass this looks!

He interrupts my Flame Frenzy spell by stomping the ground and sending up a bunch of debris. It's very effective and strange that it doesn't do this more often.

Now he looks angry!

He breathes fire and its melts the ground into lava but I would've been more impressed by lightning breath.

And I get struck by two random lightning bolts ... just because the game thought it'd be funny.

Now this fire attack looked way cooler but that was because I decided to stay close by even though I should've backed away and put some distance between us.
