Hello Hive Gamers!!
First off, I would like to apologize for not being very active. For some days, I’ve had quite a lot of stuff to do. As a result of this, I haven’t really had so much time to be active on Hive.
And I was having a bit of trouble with my internet connection too.
Another reason why I have been inactive on Hive is because I was doing a bit of self-searching to see the kind of skills I have (None). So, I spent some of my time learning a skill/hobby and that is working out quite well so far.
Well, that’s enough of that bit of my personal life. Now back to the reason you clicked on this post.
A few days back before my internet connection started acting up, I came across a game which seemed interesting so I decided to pick it up and try it out for a while.
The name of the game is Soul Knight and it was developed by ChillyRoom in the year 2017 and is available for Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch. It is a bullet-hell dungeon crawler with some rogue like elements.
At first, I thought that this game was going to feature only classic fantasy weapons (Yes, that’s what I’d like to call them) like swords, spears and stuff. It did, but it also had guns too. A lot of them.
Basically, what you do in the game is to progress through different dungeons that are randomly generated, kill enemies and try to get to the portal that will take you to the next stage (To be frank, I’m not so sure of how to explain this but it’s actually pretty straight forward).
There are 3 different locations with 5 different dungeons each (That’s 15 dungeons in total per game) which are all randomly generated every time you start a new game and the last level of each location contains a boss. In order to beat the game, you have to clear all the locations.
Also, some dungeons may have some extra rooms that may contain a shop, someone you can hire to help you or a free chest and more.
From the amount of time I’ve spent playing it, which is a lot, the first thing I have to say about it is that the gameplay is really frantic and extreme especially with the rock music that plays in the background. Sometimes, it even makes me feel like I’m playing something else like a Doom game.
While the gameplay is interesting at first, it does start to get a bit repetitive after playing it for a while but somehow it still has some way of keeping you really engaged especially with the randomly generated elements the game has to offer.
Also, while I was playing, I was able to notice that the game had a few anime references like the death note from the Death note anime which you can use to kill enemies instantly (Except bosses) and Saitama’s glove from One Punch Man (I wasn’t able to get a screenshot of it). When I found these, I found it to be really hilarious and I couldn’t really stop laughing because of them.
And graphics of Soul Knight is quite decent and the animations are nice. If I were to rate it, I would give it a 7 out of 10.
The gameplay does get a bit extreme sometimes that you won’t even be able to tell when you’re hit. At least that’s what always happens to me.
Here is some gameplay of Soul Knight that I made. I hope you enjoy (And forgive my mediocre skill):
This time, I tried uploading through YouTube as an experiment (I bet it isn't going to go so well...)
I think I’ve forgotten how to write a review…
