Hello again Hive
for the first time I played a Sonic.
It was quite sudden, I'm the kind of person that when I see an offer I grab it without even seeing the games I buy, this way I've had the joy of having a library full of games with the funny side effect that I only play a small part of them, to top it off I had been playing Valorant day and night which is a Free-To-Play, I think I have a problem in this sense lol, anyway, I decided to get up and play some of the games I have there to bring it to Hive, I will leave some screenshots as well as tell a little bit about my experience with this great little game, because this title proves that Sega needs the fans to do the work to make a good Sonic game.
Although to be fair, Sonic Mania is not a game made from scratch, it does have a couple of things that elevate it but in essence it is a compilation of most of the good 2D Sonic games, with a redesign of everything they brought as well as some additions that take it a bit out of being a one trick dog, the Green Hill Zone I have always seen it as the level 1 of mario where they put you the simple things but I have seen that the games of sega can boast of being much more elaborated at least in the design of levels that those of Nintendo in its time.
I started the first level a little bit at a time.
It has always been said that the first level is where you have more fun, the difficulty is at a point where everything is enjoyable and the landscape is much more alive and green, the first level of Mario Bros or the first world of Crash come to mind, much of this is implemented to Sonic Mania but as I say I can not compare too much because many of these levels have been modified by developers with new surprises, but something that stands out and much is the freneticism of these levels, Sonic has a way of moving, taking race and then rushing to run that catches my attention, the first level of this game begs for someone to make a speedrun of it and that contrasts very well with the nature of what Sonic is: Speed.
But if I go to something that has taken me off base is that the scenarios are all a maze where the first path is not the only one that reaches the same destination, it happened to me that I was running along the path trying to avoid the obstacles and jumping the edges but in one of those jumps I fell into one of them, I thought the game ended there but instead of that I discovered a passage where other things were unlocked and there was a whole new path to discover, something to unmark again from the mario formula and give some solid steps to what Sonic wants, no matter if you suck playing this game you will always have more options than what you see initially and that adds a range of possibilities to the player.
The game apparently has its base in 2D alluding to all the Sonic classics, I see that go from the original title to the sequels of this and some spin-off but also have some extra stages where we can occasionally in the levels (and if we can get to them) have a small section that remind me a little to what we saw in the Android games that SEGA took out to not go bankrupt, but there is always that aroma of retro since the game wants its charm is in the past, so we will not be seeing any version of Sonic with improved textures or anything like that, but if the controls adapt wonderfully at least to my controller, on the keyboard and mouse I tried it for a moment and I found the controls a little confusing for how simple the game is so for this I recommend some peripheral.
I think the best way I have to describe this game is that it is like a party in tribute to Sonic, I have seen some posters of the game where it gives much more prominence to that little sonic that radiates the energy of a naughty boy rather than the teenage sonic that most likely use weapons more often than we think, Anyway this game is quite entertaining for someone who does not know too much the character like me, has its angle in terms of difficulty but as I said it is still a platform game that brings many surprises and is not merely a title to take advantage of the nostalgia of its players, I'll keep playing but only for my enjoyment and so far I leave my analysis.
I leave some screenshots playing it for the delight of the public.
