I know that the word Retro in the title is a little misused, after all, today, games from consoles like the PS2 or even Wii can be considered retro, but I'm going to focus in this post to recommend some of the best titles of the last century, when they were just starting the big investments towards the video game and the first heated disputes were seen by the public, I'm talking about the 8-bit era, the 16-bit and in general the arcades, so this time I will share with you a top of retro games to play and prepare a little better to play the classics, I chose several of these games from my personal taste but many of them have quite important innovations in the industry and to shape the industry to what we have today, so enjoy and leave me a comment.

Much of what we see in today's racing games we have to thank Yu Susuki and the Sega-AM2 that in 1986 launched first for the arcades this game that I still remember, the arcade had a replica of a Ferrari Testarrossa with steering wheel, pedals and shifter and made us drive along the roads of Coconut Beach along 5 routes, but surely you will see it today and you will not realize that the technology that was innovated in this game, with the so called bi-linear paralax scrolling that simulated movement and allowed to feel that feeling of speed in 2D environments was the one that was going to give the leap in quality for other games later to benefit from this, I doubt that you can still find the arcades as they are but I'm sure you can play the game with some emulator or its ports to the different consoles that were released later.

The Secret Of Monkey Island
In the adventure games section I could have put some of the great Indiana Jones games or the most classic of all Maniac Mansion but as we are in a list of my personal tastes if we talk about point and click adventures I have to opt for now with Monkey Island from the amazing Lucasart Games that for the time made a rivalry out of the ordinary with Sierra Games, much more focused on the world of pc and its possibilities than in the consoles at that time dominated by a couple of giants, this title was one of the first I could enjoy the genre and caught me immediately with the absurd humor of a pirate adventure in an environment where everyone is useless, the name of the protagonist and told me that this was one of those games with lots of absurd decisions and endless laughter, unlike many adventure games of the 80 and 90 Monkey Island is a title that wants you to reach the end, with little obstacles and enjoying the way.

Marble Madness
Some games are developed by normal studios and people who make their games at least entertaining but now we are going to dive into the underworld of retro puzzle games where the limitations along with the challenge of solving some maze added an extra layer of difficulty to the whole experience. Marble Madness is a good example of one of those games that are difficult without apparent sense, we are a marble hovering in an isothermal perspective and where we have to swing to avoid falling and solve the mazes that we propose, a quick view of the game and it seems that it is simple but dealing with physics that are quite accomplished for the time and the shape of their levels makes the game a tough nut to crack for most players, I don't want to say that today's studios think of this game to develop difficult games, I'm just curious to know that more people suffered this game as I did at the time when I downloaded one of the emulatable versions. Another interesting note about this game is that its creator, Mark Cerny, worked for sega on Sonic 2 and in the future was development director of the PS4.

Jetpac
One of the games that among all the limitations that offered the time has moments where it is entertaining to play it, is about an astronaut who has to be constantly repairing the air leaks of his ship and uses a jetpack to support, curiously I did not choose this game to be a feat but merely to entertain, however it has a curious fact that is to be the first game of Ultimate Play The Game that in a few years would be renamed to RARE which is for me one of the most important video game studios of all and with works in all the big companies of that time.

Dragon's Lair
The last one I'm going to recommend may be the least attractive to the general public, but in 1983 to see animations like the ones in this game, which by the way was also involved a Disney artist was incredible, using the laserdisc technology that allowed to overcome by far the conventions of the video games of the time and offer animations long before these arrived to the conventional video game, the adventure game is quite common compared to many of the same years but the power of its graphics was undeniable.
And that's it, which retro videogame would you like to see in this list?
