I am really glad Halo was remastered, and all the games brought to PC. Previously, I was hoping Xbox emulation would catch up so I could play them on my computer. Though I no longer need to worry about that and can now play them on my PC naively. We start off with Reach as its the first in the chronological order for Halo. And I am quickly amazed how well the game looks. You can switch between "classic" and "remastered" as well.
Playing this on normal difficulty, but I added some skulls to make it more challenging. Such as enemy units are a rank higher than they normally are, they have more health, more likely to throw grenades and less likely to run away. I like how I can change these aspects in the game. There are other skulls for different Halo games. One of my favorite is grunts detonate when you kill them. Can make for some impressive chain reaction explosions.
These Jackals are normally pretty puny, but with them being higher rank and more health they can take a bit of damage.
The Elites are way over powered now, I can stick a grenade to them and it wont kill them. Sometimes it seems I use all my ammo up on them and barely kill them.
I am dying alot, hoping I can make it through the game with all these skulls added. Probably will get even harder.
We move onto the next mission and I find myself using an alien blaster to take on the enemies there and helping protect my allies.
Those Jackals and Grunts are putting up a good fight.
Eventually the aliens drop in more ships and I have to make a run for the blast door. Honestly I did not realize I needed to do that until I was almost completely over run.
Its dark in this building though using my night vision I can see. Sometimes though its just too late. Trying to throw a grenade before this Elite cuts my head off.
Yeah I died alot from that sword bearing Elite, they are really tough with added skulls.
Making our way deeper into the base we are now outside and fighting lots of aliens.
I am finding myself running out of ammo alot, and having to leave the battle to find more.
Feels like I spent 30 minutes just fighting two Elites here.
Eventually I make it through to the next part of the level. I get to use a super weapon to take out the alien tanks. An Elite almost gets killed by the blast. They are some tough mofos now.
Seems the alien ships can take more damage too, I used to be able to use the warthog's gun and take out the ships with sustained fire.
Another sparton drives the warthog and I use the gun to fire upon the aliens. Though they get me with sticky plasma grenades alot.
I try engaging them from further way but seems the gun does not reach very far.
Activating the radar dish now I have to run for my life and try to survive. Since the enemies are so tough I am finding myself speedrunning through areas instead of trying to fight all of them.
