Playing some more of this Nintendo racing game on my emulator, I start off as DK and pick the motorcycle. Should give me lots of speed and my weight should help keep others from bumping into me and making me lose that way. Smaller players can get spun out when bumped, but when bigger players bump into smaller ones they get a boost.
Looking forward to unlocking more players, but for now I mostly just have what you start with. I need to make sure I back up my save game when playing on CEMU if I move machines. I think I have restarted this game like 5 times and if I just backed up my saves I would have most of the locked players by now.
Each player has their own stats, which then are affected by the vehicle, tires and parachute chosen.
Starting off near the back I will need to fight my way to the podium. Hah loving my Wolly Yoshi tires.
After that race we move onto a pirate ship and I get into second place within the first lap.
The next race I do not do so well and in 5th. Luckily the game is nice to me and gives me powerups to try to get ahead.
I just barely get 1st place by the last lap.
Next up I find myself again battling to get into first but half way through I am still in 5th.
Finished in podium but just barely, 3rd place.
Rainbow road is up next, I must say it really looks amazing. They really outdid themselves in the Wii U version of Mario Kart.
I keep falling off this track and it puts me behind and I am in 5th.
Even by the 2nd lap I still am in 3rd. I get some mushrooms boosts but have to use them carefully here otherwise I will just fly off again.
Finishing the circuit with the heavyweight I decide to try out a lightweight next.
Waluigi gets first, I really like driving the motorcycles in this game.
As I collect enough coins I get a boost for every additional one I get.
Finding myself with 10 coins and in first I work my way through the traffic. These cars can easily crash into you, so you got to negotiate through them carefully.
I got first in the 100 CC series, and won by quite the lead. I guess the lightweights also are pretty good. Depending on how you play, different racers have their benefits. I have had really good races with the lightweights and then other times I just get clobbered by the heavyweights and cannot seem to get away from them. So it seems to be based on a little bit of luck sometimes.
