When it comes to strategy games I mostly played Command and Conquer growing up. Though recently I have given StarCraft II a try. It has been a lot of fun though I need to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the different units. I start off playing as the human race, and build out my resources as quickly as possible. Eventually I will need to find other deposits to get more. Just doing skirmishes for now, I have previously played through part of the story line. But for now I am just planning on checking out different maps and playing with bots.
The SCVs can collect gas or crystal resources and bring them back to base. A good strategy is to attack the enemies resource carriers and even their plants if possible.
I spawn more of them, sometimes having more utility units than my combat units.
Building up bunkers as I am sure the enemy is amassing forces.
Playing co-op with a bot I can call them over to give me defense.
With enough utility units I focus on my combat units, first ones for a bunker and then ones to explore the area.
An enemy air unit flies over head and glad I had some anti-aircraft units set up. Finding a balance of base defense and having enough troops to wander the maps seems to be something I need to work on.
Using the large amount of resources I now have I build lots of ground troops.
We find a new crystal deposit and guard it from any enemy gatherers.
Bringing out a large tank unit just in case they show up with some armor. Those tanks can also become stationary for larger firepower. Unless I am confusing them with some other unit in one of these strategy games.
Seems my ally on this map is wiping the floor, making the enemy not attack me so much. Though I need their help, so glad otherwise I think I would get wiped out myself.
We end with my troops attacking the last remaining enemy base, and then the match is over. Had some fun playing this game, though I need lots of practice. Right now I am playing on easy and my ally is always pretty strong, not sure how well I would fare in a 1v1 battle.. But I should give it a try eventually.
