¡Saludos, Hive!
Halo Infinite al igual que sus antecesores ha sido aclamado por la crítica, tanto por su historia como por los personajes que nos fueron presentados durante esta entrega. Una de ellos fue El Arma, la nueva IA que parece ser el remplazo de la compañera del Jefe Maestro, Cortana.
Personalmente, este personaje fue uno de mis favoritos en este juego. Por ello he decidido contarles su historia y los acontecimientos que dieron lugar a su creación.
He de aclarar que durante todo el artículo nos referiremos a ella como “El Arma”, ya que esta IA no tiene un nombre definido.
Dicho esto, comencemos:

Para entender esta historia primero debemos hacer un repaso a lo sucedido en Halo 5: Guardians.
Guardian from ForbesCortana se ha rebelado en contra de la humanidad y dispuesta a usurpar el manto de responsabilidad para forzar la paz por el universo comienza a despertar a los Guardianes, construcciones gigantes creados por los Fourruner, cuyo objetivo es contener planetas enteros que se consideren un peligro para la ideología del Manto de Responsabilidad.
Luego de que el Master Chief fallara en persuadir a Cortana de abandonar sus planes, esta comienza su rebelión desactivando varias bases de la UNSC y amenazando a la nave más grande que posee la humanidad, la UNSC Infinite, colocando a uno de los Guardianes frente a la ella, sin opciones el capitán de la nave Thomas Lasky ordena que se realicen saltos aleatorios al desliespacio para así evitar volverse presas de Cortana en lo que encuentran una manera de contraatacar. Al final de la campaña Cortana toma el control de un anillo Halo.
Una vez a bordo de la Infinite, el Jefe Maestro junto a la doctora Catherine Halsey comienzan a idear un plan para la desactivación y eliminación de Cortana.
En octubre de 2559 la doctora ordena al Equipo Azul buscar unos activos que se encontraban bajo las ruinas de la Base Castillo ubicada en el planeta Reach, lugar donde se creó a Cortana, estos activos serian una parte esencial del cerebro del clon de Halsey. El plan sería crear una copia exacta de Cortana para que esta se infiltrara en la instalación Halo 07 con el objetivo de contener a la IA rebelde, bajo este concepto se creó El Arma y conforme se acercaba su finalización la doctora Halsey considero prudente presentarle la IA al Jefe Maestro junto a esto se le notificó sobre el plan de captura de Cortana para así regresarla a la Infinite para su eliminación
Jefe Maestro: Se ve igual que ella.
Dra. Halsey: Si tú lo dices. Yo veo algo más, algo más inocente, de tiempos más sencillos.
Jefe Maestro: ¿Me conoce?
Dra. Halsey: No, ella es una página en blanco sin recuerdos, sin historia. Su núcleo está casi completo, una vez que esté lista será asunto de ustedes dos. El Arma la bloqueará, tendrá que recuperar a Cortana y traerla de vuelta aquí.
Jefe Maestro: ¿Para la ejecución?
Dra. Halsey: Para su eliminación. Estamos en guerra Jefe Maestro, si crees que no podrás conseguirlo es momento de retirarse, estoy segura de que el Spartan Locke se encuentra disponible.
Jefe Maestro: Eso no será necesario.
Dra. Halsey: Bien, mañana se nos pondrá a prueba a todos.
Audio UNSC Infinite—Halo Infinite.
Una vez completado su propósito El Arma debería de ejecutar una rutina de eliminación, es decir, finalizada la misión ninguna de las dos Cortanas debía seguir activa.
Sin embargo, poco después de su llegada a Zeta Halo serían emboscados por una nave de Los Desterrados, la cual acabaría rápidamente con las defensas de la Infinite. Ante esto el capitán Lasky ordenaría el despliegue inmediato de El Arma, ya que la contención de Cortana era prioridad. Mientras El Arma ejecutaba el plan anteriormente establecido el Jefe Maestro se quedaría en la Infinite tratando de suprimir el ataque, sin embargo, este termina siendo vencido a manos de Atriox, líder de Los Desterrados.
Transcurridos seis meses el Jefe maestro es salvado por uno de los sobrevivientes a la masacre de Los Desterrados y se dispone a buscar El Arma, para saber si la supresión de Cortana fue llevada con éxito. Al encontrarla, extrañamente la IA no logra recordar con precisión lo sucedido, ella le comenta al Jefe Maestro que la contención y eliminación de la IA rebelde Cortana fue exitosa, pero es incapaz de recordar con precisión como fue llevado a cabo este proceso, además de eso muestra una gran confusión, ya que después de la eliminación de Cortana ella no debería seguir activa.
Tras este diálogo, el Jefe Maestro toma El Arma con el objetivo de explorar la instalación, buscar respuestas y a su vez detener a Los Desterrados quienes habían tomado el control de Zeta Halo. Con la ayuda del piloto, Eco 216, el Jefe y El Arma recorrerían Zeta Halo acabando con Los Desterrados y encontrando en su camino ecos de Cortana explicando lo sucedido durante su estadía en el anillo.
Al llegar a la instalación Nexus El Arma es atrapada en el sistema por El Heraldo, ante esto la El Arma pide la ayuda del Jefe Maestro, pero este preocupado por que la IA hubiera sido comprometida inicia su proceso de eliminación. Por suerte El Arma lograría salir de esta situación y detener el protocolo, la IA se muestra sorprendida e indignada antes los resientes acontecimientos, ya que no esperaba que el Jefe se pusiera en su contra en lugar de confiar en ella para liberarse.
A partir de este punto la relación entre El Arma y el Jefe Maestro se volverá muy tensa, constantemente la IA responde de manera sarcástica y es incapaz de disimular su enojo.

En algún punto de su recorrido ambos se encontraron con uno de los ecos de Cortana en donde esta destruía Doisac, planeta de origen de los Brutes, todo esto frente a Atriox. En este punto El Arma también se entera de que ella es una copia exacta de Cortana, esto es confirmado por el Jefe quien le explica que su creación era necesaria para la infiltración en Zeta Halo y que la doctora Halsey se ocupó de eliminar cualquier información que pudiera comprometerla. Ante esto la IA se muestra horrorizada pues teme cometer los mismos errores que cometió Cortana en el pasado. El Arma restaura sus protocolos de eliminación y le pide al Jefe Maestro hacer lo que debía haber hecho desde un principio, pero pidiéndole salvar al piloto Eco 216 quien en ese momento era prisionero de Scharum, pues había desarrollado un vínculo amistoso con él. El Jefe rechaza la petición de la IA diciéndole que ambos serian quienes salven al piloto.
Luego de salvar a Eco 216 y acabar con Scharum, la única amenaza restante era El Heraldo. Tras esto la IA y el Spartan se dirigen al Auditorio Silencioso, al acercarse El Arma se da cuenta de que fue en este lugar donde Cortana había sido encerrada y eliminada.
Al abrirse paso dentro de la estructura encontraron más ecos de Cortana y en estos se contemplaba como Atriox había presionado a Cortana para que esta le entregara el control del anillo y que la misma Cortana había sido quien detuvo el proceso de eliminación de El Arma. Luego de percatarse de que había puesto en movimiento una cadena de eventos que comprometería la vida en el universo, Cortana se había dado cuenta de que El Arma sería la única ayuda que tendría John durante su lucha contra Los Desterrados, debido a que ella ya no podía hacerlo. Después de una última confrontación con Atriox, Cortana se sacrificó para destruir la parte del anillo que contenía el Auditorio Silencioso.
Tras llegar al Heraldo y acaban con el mismo la IA y el Spartan son testigos de una grabación hecha por Cortana antes de morir, en donde se disculpaba y pedía a ambos aprender de sus errores. Cortana también comento que sentía que El Arma tenía mucho potencial, dejando claro que seria ella quien remplazara su lugar junto a John.
Cortana: Te emparejarán con otra IA. Tal vez incluso con otro modelo de Cortana si Halsey lo permite. No seré yo, pero lo sabes ¿verdad? Pero eso no importa.
El Arma: Es solo otro eco.
Cortana: Ella tiene razón, John. Solo es otro eco. Lo siento, estoy jugando contigo. Acabo de tener un presentimiento de que ella diría eso ¿Ves lo que yo veo? Tanto potencial. Lo siento. No tuve tiempo para planear esto. Unos pocos milisegundos en realidad. Espero que haya funcionado.
Míranos. Seguimos diciendo adiós ¿no? Pero esto no es el final. Es una oportunidad de enmendar las cosas, de rectificar errores. Y comienza aquí.
Me equivoqué. Pensé que podía hacer esto por mi cuenta, pero olvidé que el objetivo de todo esto, la razón por la que te elegí en primer, lugar fue porque se suponía que éramos un equipo.
Ensamble perfecto, conjunción perfecta, perfección perfecta. En estos momentos finales sé cuál es mi última misión. Necesito asegurarme de que ustedes dos aprendan de mis errores. De que se volverán más fuertes por ellos.
Elegí bien, Jefe Maestro. Realmente lo hice. Ahora, depende de ti.

Finalizada esta grabación, el Auditorio Silencioso comenzaría a derrumbarse sin tener otra alternativa ambos saltarían a un portal misterioso que se había abierto y al llegar a la superficie del Halo El Arma se percataría que habían estado fuera durante tres días. Finalmente, se reencontrarían con Eco 216 y este le preguntaría su nombre a la IA, John le dice que ella debía ser quien eligiera su nombre, así como Cortana lo hizo en su momento.
Con esto finalizamos la historia de El Arma quien al parecer a llegado para quedarse ¿Qué tal les pareció este personaje? Y ¿Creen que es digna de reemplazar a Cortana?

Halo Infinite like its predecessors has been critically acclaimed, both for its story and for the characters that were introduced to us during this installment. One of them was The Gun, the new AI that seems to be the replacement for Master Chief's companion, Cortana.
Personally, this character was one of my favorites in this game. That's why I decided to tell you its story and the events that led to its creation.
I have to clarify that throughout the article we will refer to her as "The Weapon", as this AI does not have a defined name.
That said, let's begin:

To understand this story we must first review what happened in Halo 5: Guardians.
Guardian from ForbesCortana has rebelled against humanity and willing to usurp the Mantle of Responsibility to force peace throughout the universe, she begins to awaken the Guardians, giant constructs created by the Fourruner, whose objective is to contain entire planets that are considered a danger to the ideology of the Mantle of Responsibility.
After the Master Chief fails to persuade Cortana to abandon her plans, Cortana begins her rebellion by disabling several UNSC bases and threatening the largest ship in humanity's possession, the UNSC Infinite, placing one of the Guardians in front of it. With no options, the ship's captain Thomas Lasky orders random jumps to be made into space to avoid becoming Cortana's prey while they find a way to counterattack. At the end of the campaign Cortana takes control of a Halo ring.
Once aboard the Infinite, the Master Chief and Dr. Catherine Halsey begin to devise a plan for the deactivation and elimination of Cortana.
In October 2559, the doctor orders the Blue Team to search for some assets that were under the ruins of the Castle Base located on the planet Reach, the place where Cortana was created, these assets would be an essential part of the brain of Halsey's clone. The plan was to create an exact copy of Cortana to infiltrate the Halo 07 facility in order to contain the rebel AI, under this concept The Weapon was created and as it neared completion Dr. Halsey considered it prudent to present the AI to the Master Chief along with this he was notified of the plan to capture Cortana and return her to the Infinite for her elimination.
Master Chief: She looks just like her.
Dr. Halsey: If you say so. I see something else, something more innocent, from simpler times.
Master Chief: Does she know me?
Dr. Halsey: No, she's a blank page with no memories, no history. Her core is almost complete, once she is ready it will be up to the two of you. The Weapon will block her, you will have to retrieve Cortana and bring her back here.
Master Chief: For the execution?
Dr. Halsey: For her elimination. We are at war Master Chief, if you think you won't be able to get it it's time to stand down, I'm sure Spartan Locke is available.
Master Chief: That won't be necessary.
Dr. Halsey: Good, tomorrow we will all be put to the test.
UNSC Infinite Audio-Halo Infinite.
Once their purpose was completed, The Weapon was to execute an elimination routine, that is, once the mission was over, neither of the two Cortanas was to remain active.
However, shortly after their arrival at Zeta Halo they would be ambushed by a ship of The Banished, which would quickly finish with the defenses of the Infinite. In response, Captain Lasky ordered the immediate deployment of The Weapon, as Cortana's containment was a priority. While The Weapon executed the previously established plan, the Master Chief stayed on the Infinite trying to suppress the attack, however, he ended up being defeated by Atriox, leader of The Banished.
After six months the Master Chief is saved by one of the survivors of the massacre of The Banished and sets out to find The Weapon, to find out if the suppression of Cortana was successful. Upon finding it, the AI strangely fails to remember precisely what happened, she tells the Master Chief that the containment and elimination of the rebel AI Cortana was successful, but she is unable to remember precisely how this process was carried out, besides that she shows great confusion, since after Cortana's elimination she should no longer be active.
After this dialogue, the Master Chief takes The Weapon with the objective of exploring the facility, searching for answers and at the same time stopping The Banished who had taken control of Zeta Halo. With the help of the pilot, Echo 216, the Chief and the Weapon would go through Zeta Halo finishing with The Banished and finding on their way echoes of Cortana explaining what happened during their stay in the ring.
Upon arriving at the Nexus facility, The Weapon is trapped in the system by The Herald. The Weapon asks for the Master Chief's help, but he is worried that the AI has been compromised and begins the process of elimination. Luckily The Weapon would manage to get out of this situation and stop the protocol, the AI is surprised and indignant before the resentful events, since it did not expect the Boss to turn against it instead of trusting it to free itself.
From this point on, the relationship between The Weapon and the Master Chief will become very tense, the AI constantly responds sarcastically and is unable to hide its anger.
Cortana from Tenor
At some point in their journey both encountered one of Cortana's echoes where she was destroying Doisac, planet of origin of the Brutes, all this in front of Atriox. At this point The Weapon also learns that she is an exact copy of Cortana, this is confirmed by the Chief who explains that her creation was necessary for the infiltration of Zeta Halo and that Dr. Halsey took care of eliminating any information that could compromise her. At this the AI is horrified as it fears making the same mistakes Cortana made in the past. The Weapon restores its elimination protocols and asks the Master Chief to do what he should have done all along, but asking him to save the pilot Echo 216 who at the time was Scharum's prisoner, as he had developed a friendly bond with him. The Chief refuses the AI's request telling him that they would both be the ones to save the pilot.
After saving Echo 216 and taking out Scharum, the only remaining threat was The Herald. After this the AI and the Spartan head to the Silent Auditorium, as they approach The Weapon they realize that it was in this place that Cortana had been locked up and eliminated.
As they made their way inside the structure, they found more echoes of Cortana and they saw how Atriox had pressured Cortana to hand over control of the ring and that Cortana herself had been the one to stop the process of eliminating The Weapon. After realizing that she had set in motion a chain of events that would compromise life in the universe, Cortana had realized that The Weapon would be the only help John would have during his fight against The Banished, because she could no longer do it. After a final confrontation with Atriox, Cortana sacrificed herself to destroy the part of the ring containing the Silent Auditorium.
After reaching The Herald and finishing with it, the AI and the Spartan witness a recording made by Cortana before she died, where she apologized and asked both of them to learn from their mistakes. Cortana also commented that she felt the Weapon had a lot of potential, making it clear that she would be the one to replace her and John.
Cortana: They'll pair you with another AI. Maybe even with another Cortana model if Halsey lets them. It won't be me, but you know that right? But that doesn't matter.
The Weapon: It's just another echo.
Cortana: She's right, John. Just another echo. I'm sorry, I'm messing with you. I just had a feeling that's what she would say. Did you see what I see? So much potential. I'm sorry. I didn't have long to plan this. I didn't have time to plan this. A few milliseconds really. I hope it worked out. Look at us. We just keep saying goodbye, don't we? But this isn't an end. It's a chance to make things right, to rectify mistakes. And it starts here.
I was wrong. I thought I could do this on my own, but I forgot that the whole point of all this, the entire reason I chose you in the first place was because we were supposed to be a team.
Perfectly suited, perfectly matched, perfectly perfect. In these final moments I know what my last mission is. I need to make sure that you two learn from my mistakes. Become stronger because of them.
I chose well, Master Chief. I really did. Now, it's up to you.

After this recording, the Silent Auditorium would begin to collapse, with no other alternative, both would jump into a mysterious portal that had opened and upon reaching the surface of the Halo, The Weapon would realize that they had been gone for three days. Finally, they would be reunited with Echo 216 and he would ask the AI for her name, John tells her that she should be the one to choose her name, just as Cortana did at the time.
