They say that remembering or reminiscing is to live again, and I have been able to prove it, every time I think about the first game I played of the Rockstar Games saga. I automatically go back to my adolescence, when I had no worries or many responsibilities.

The game I am referring to is the incomparable Grand Theft Auto 3, released in 2001. But I didn't have the honor of playing it for the first time until 2005. Since then, I have been a diehard fan of this game and the entire saga.

Dicen por ahí que recordar o rememorar es volver a vivir, y así lo he podido comprobar, cada vez que pienso en el primer juego que jugué de la saga de Rockstar Games. Automáticamente vuelvo a mi adolescencia, cuando no tenía preocupaciones ni muchas responsabilidades.

El juego al que me refiero es en cuestión el inigualable Grand Theft Auto 3, lanzado en el año 2001. Pero que yo no tuve el honor de jugarlo por primera vez hasta el 2005. Desde entonces, he sido un fanático acérrimo de este juego y de la saga completa.

My experience playing Grand Theft Auto 3:

The first game of the Grand Theft Auto saga that I played was the third one and I must say that I was impressed from the very first moment. I had never played a game with an open world as immense and full of possibilities as this title had.

El primer juego de la saga Grand Theft Auto que jugué fue el tercero y debo decir que me impresionó desde el primer momento. Nunca había jugado un juego con un mundo abierto tan inmenso y lleno de posibilidades como el que tenía este título.

I could do whatever I wanted, take cars, break into stores and confront the police without any real consequences. Plus, the game's story kept me hooked for hours, and the missions were a perfect blend of action, strategy and fun. So much so that it's the game I've replayed and completed the most out of the entire series.

Podía hacer lo que quisiera, coger autos, entrar en tiendas y enfrentarme a la policía sin ninguna consecuencia real. Además, la historia del juego me mantuvo enganchado durante horas, y las misiones fueron una mezcla perfecta de acción, estrategia y diversión. Tanto así que es el juego que más he repetido y completado de toda la serie.

Things I liked most about the game:

One of the things I liked most about the game was its intriguing plot, full of missions that kept me glued to the screen for hours, it was just great. I got to feel like I was part of the story, living the adventures of my character and facing the villains of the city.

Una de las cosas que más me gustaron del juego fue su trama intrigante, llena de misiones que me mantenían pegado a la pantalla durante horas, era simplemente genial. Legué a sentir como si fuera parte de la historia, viviendo las aventuras de mi personaje y enfrentándome a los villanos de la ciudad.

I also have to admit that some of the missions were difficult for me back then, so I had to replay them several times before I managed to pass them. Nowadays they are very easy for me but you can't take away that merit at the time.

My favorite things about the game.

But not everything in Grand Theft Auto 3 are missions and action. The game also has a section for my favorite things that I can't help but mention.

I start with my favorite car, this is none other than the Infernus, a luxury sports car that looked and looks amazing on screen.

También tengo que admitir aunque me de pena que algunas misiones me resultaron difíciles en aquel entonces por ello tuve que repetirlas varias veces antes de lograr superarlas. Hoy en día ya son muy fáciles para mí pero no se puede quitar ese merito en su momento.

Mis cosas favoritas del juego.

Pero no todo en Grand Theft Auto 3 son misiones y acción. El juego también cuenta con una sección para mis cosas favoritas que no puedo dejar de mencionar.

Comienzo por mi carro favorito, este es nada más y nada menos que el Infernus, un auto deportivo de lujo que se veía y se ve increíble en la pantalla.

On the other hand, my favorite radio station in the game is Double Clef FM, mainly because of the opera which is one of the music I like the most. Listening to it while driving around town made me feel like I was in a theater.

Now it's time to talk about some facts that I personally found interesting and even a bit strange. For example some of them are:

The first and one that everyone will surely remember if you played the game is that if you fall into the water you automatically die. The truth is that this point got on my nerves a few times. When I was at my liveliest when I was playing the game I would leave the road on a mission and drown. I liked that later in GTASA this was evolved.

Por otro lado, mi emisora de radio favorita del juego es Double Clef FM, sobre todo por la ópera que es una de las músicas que más me gustan. Escucharla mientras conducía por la ciudad me hacía sentir como si estuviera en un teatro.

Datos interesantes del juego:

Ahora toca hablar de algunos datos que a mí en lo personal me parecieron interesantes y hasta un tanto extraños. Por ejemplo algunos de ellos son:

El primero y uno de los que seguro todos recordaran si jugaste el juego es si te caes en el agua mueres automáticamente. La verdad este punto a mí en su momento me sacó de quicio algunas veces. Cuando más animado estaba jugando me iba de la carretera en una misión y me ahogaba. Me gustó que más adelante en GTASA ya esto fuera evolucionado.

The other interesting detail is that there are no planes or helicopters that we can drive to fly in the game. The only thing we have is a small plane called Dodo. But this one has a trick, even though you think you will be able to fly it.

After a few moments in the air it falls back to the ground and there is nothing you can do. I think it's a bug that the game programmers left there on purpose.

El otro detalle interesante es que no hay aviones ni helicópteros que podamos conducir para volar en el juego. Lo único que tenemos es una avioneta llamada Dodo. Pero este tiene truco, a pesar de que tú pienses que podrás volar en ella.

Después de unos instantes en el aire vuelve caer a tierra y no hay nada que puedas hacer. Creo que es un bug que los programadores del juego dejaron ahí a propósito.

I was also struck by the fact that in the gun stores there is a salesman, but we can't interact with him as in other parts of the game. The only thing he will do is shoot us if we do something improper inside the establishment.

También me llamó la atención que en las tiendas de armas hay un vendedor, pero no podemos interactuar con él como en otras partes del juego. Lo único que hará es dispararnos si hacemos algo indebido dentro del establecimiento.

As for Some gameplay details of the game I can tell you that there are only 3 free houses or apartments to save the game. This can be a bit limiting but the city is not very big so they will be accessible. In later gta's this feature was updated and improved.

En cuanto a Algunos detalles de jugabilidad del juego les puedo contar que solo hay 3 casas o pisos francos para guardar la partida. Esto puede ser un poco limitante pero la ciudad no es muy grande por lo que serán accesibles. En los gta posteriores esta característica se actualizó y mejoró.

On the other hand, the game is set on 3 fictional islands that are based in New York, which gives a touch of realism to the plot. Each island has its own personality and its own missions, which makes the game more varied and entertaining.

One thing that sets gta apart is that these cities are always limited and locations will be unlocked as you progress through the game.

Reminiscing.

Although it's been a long time since this title was released and since I played it for the first time I still have a special connection with it, it always brings me mixed emotions every time I play it.

And while many other games have come and gone, I will always have a special place for the one and only Grand Theft Auto 3.

Por otro lado, el juego está ambientado en 3 islas ficticias que están basadas en Nueva York, lo que le da un toque de realismo a la trama. Cada isla tiene su propia personalidad y sus propias misiones, lo que hace que el juego sea más variado y entretenido.

Una cosa que distingue a los gta es que siempre estas ciudades están limitadas y se irán desbloqueando lugares a medida que avanzas en el juego.

Rememorando.

Aunque ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que se lanzó este título y desde que lo jugué por primera vez aún ciento una conexión especial con él, siempre me trae emociones encontradas cada vez que lo juego.

Y aunque muchos otros juegos han llegado y se han ido, siempre tendré un lugar especial para el inigualable Grand Theft Auto 3.
