Been a busy time with Christmas and finishing up work with 6 days of free time at the moment. Haven't been able to get a post out and it took time to get more MTG: Arena content as I didn't get to play as much, but I have chunked it out, gotten a fair bit down as you will see through these screenshots and where I have ranked up to now!
Hitting the silver rank ups as I progress further
This starting hand was good, except for only having the one land which I stuck with since I had a card to use... Now I just need to get another land, preferably a swamp..
A forest and swamp came for me which helped get extra out on the field and quicker, also allowing me to use Disfigure to take out his current creature card and get a nice start to this match.
My opponent got out an early Wedding Invitation to start claiming counters on it, while drawing a card which may help.. but then I manage on my turn to get another land and my Obstinate Baloth out onto the field, 4 life gain and a nice, semi-strong card!
My opponent thought it would be smart to put out a Network Terminal for another colour choice, but also for drawing more cards. Good for a counter on Wedding Invitation, but then my saga transformed and I had another creature to use and attack with.
My opponent finally realised this match was over, they brought out a creature card to do something but it was no hope as I was about to attack with more than they could block, no matter which they blocked with...
So now you see me hit halfway through Silver Tier 2 rank, have had some great progression, but wait, let's have a look at another match as well to see how that one goes.
Now onto another match with the black/green deck
My starting hand had two 1 mana cost cards and then some bigger costs, so I kept it in hopes for some better draws coming up. Meanwhile, a few turns in and the opponent had gotten a planeswalker and out, trying to take the upper hand in this match so far. So I made sure his planeswalker would be no more and I would keep control of the match, at this point!
My opponent got out a Girder Goons creature card to get some nice damage on me, plus when it dies it makes a 2/2 black Rogue creature token and to draw a card too, talk about a handy card to use!
So I respond with The Celestus.. a legendary artifact to turn it from night to day and vice versa, allowing me to gain 1 life, draw a card and discard a card if I do draw which can help find something more useful!
Of course they bring out some more biggish sort of tokens with Join the Maestros, where they sacrificed their Rogue token to use Casualty 2, allowing them to bring out not 1 but 2 4/3 black Ogre warrior creature tokens!
With bigger creatures coming out it was fitting to get Baloth out to heal me and have a stronger creature to play with, so I let the attack hit me for now and they brought out the Cemetery Desecrator to have yet another creature out... but hey, I can beef up my cards with Unnatural Growth which means each combat phase, all creatures have double the power and toughness, perfect to cull some of my opponents cards haha!
Then Vanquish the Horde culls me down too, leaving the reliance on Sorin the Mirthless to bring out a lifelink vampire.
They want to bring out something stronger? Okay then, I will get out Titan of Industry for a nice 7/7 and gain 5 life while also bringing out another 4/4 as well, perfect to show what's up!
Now all that is left is to lifelink for 4 life with the double from Unnatural Growth, scare the opponent with the creatures of true power and after their summon and realising there is no hope, they conceded and this was another solid win to get me close to Silver Tier 1!
Gold Tier 4, 3, then 2
As you can see I have played more games as well and I was able to get more wins than losses, letting me get excited to hit Gold Tier 4, keep working it up to Gold Tier 3 then Gold Tier 2 to be quite happy with how well I have been performing!
So this is the progress so far, but the season ends in about 4 days which I believe will be a new booster pack or release with it, maybe soon after I cannot remember.. so I am unsure how it works with ranking and getting invited to tournaments, I know there is an event once a month, when you can win monetary prizes and get qualifier tokens or something like that, sounds like the next goal once I have kept refining my skills and knowledge of cards and deck building.
