Back in late 2020, I wanted to buy this game so badly, the hole left my Deus Ex Mankind Divided would have been filled yet the thing I got was slowly assured disappointment of what the game became. A facsimile of the promised game that was heavily promoted.
Now, it took them 3 years to deliver that game and more. I know I've talked about it before, but the new patch changes adds more content worth mentioning about. We're already spoiled from patch 2.0, with the revamps and more side content. Plus, a good expansion came out same time the update has. And I think we've reached full circle where the promised content missing, are all here.
The complementary additions, radio is now playable while playing on foot, romantic partners are now invited to safehouses for hangout, and more 😉, sightseeing, redoing the car races, and the metro line. Quite the nice timing for me considering I've been in my first metro train last year.
There's plenty more to add here, along with some bug fixes, but the highlighted stuff of the updates is already enough to sell me on trying it again. I've been sitting on the game after coming back with 30+ hrs along with the 50hrs I already played. What's a few more hours to add?
Also, extra tidbit. I got a new monitor, which is a QHD panel with high refresh rate, and it has HDR. So there's going to the SDR image uploaded, with a link as well to the HDR version of the image. Don't think any site supports preview for the file, so you have to download it to see.
Riding The Sunset One More Time
I went back to engaging in various quests, had to catch up. So after helping Judy with her BD experiment, she expressed doubts and sadness regarding the Maiko and Clouds quest. Kind of my fault for not making the right choice, letting Maiko take over. But am already far gone to fix that now.
Maybe the next run I give the game from fresh I can change that. I am planning to, especially with so many things having changed now. Right afterwards, I worked with Rogue to finally kill Adam Smasher, yet to get there. Turns out the patch also changed how boss battles are played. Smasher has a Sandevistan as well, a lot of the other bosses also had their fight design changed as well.
My Male V though could use some cozy time, so I called up Panam to meet me up in my old apartment. A lot we did from sweet pillow talk, dancing, showering together, looking out the window, before ending the day on the bed together. Different options available for other apartments as well.
Man, my new monitor has changed the game for me. Though I know my card isn't suitable to run this at max in higher resolution, having HDR10 on, and FSR 2.1 finally added allowed me to run mostly at 45-55FPS at most. Doable, the performance was no longer the issue either.
And I got to see the fidelity, much clearer for what it truly deserves to be seen. From riding the new metro Line, being able to listen to radio on the go helped, but I also have this feeling that there are going to be more dynamic events programmed in the train, which I'll see the more I ride it. Except for ones involving shooting, because of tight security restrictions.
Good Got Better
I had so many quests left to finish, but I needed to push my Cyberware harder. Still stole cars for Reyes, but apparently the gangs chasing are now more aggressive than before. I mean, it was easier before, now the cars get nearly destroyed. Damn hold back a bit, that's too many dead bodies.
Then again, that's also more reason to loot them, and more gathered indeed. I was overflowing with money this point, I bought one of the new bikes that was added, the ARCH Nazaré. Gave that one a go, and it feels like am playing San Andreas in Night City, lean riding.
I only painted less than half the picture here, regarding the changes so far. It's not as significant as 2.0, but the amount of stuff here available would be 1/4 of it you'd have to pay for an extensive DLC or from an expansion if this was a different game. They're spoiling us at this point. And they even went further as to make the graphics great again, already pushing the ante before with Path Tracing.
If you want to know the exact details, just visit the patch notes here. With more bugfixes, some gameplay and weapons tweaking and balancing. This is their last major update though, and from that I have to assume the last time they're working on Cyberpunk for almost a decade.
The next game is in development, but as of now, it's in a conceptual stage. They made it sound like they're working on a few more projects, like the next Witcher game. And maybe branch out elsewhere. CD Projekt Red is a big company now, so their ambitions has no bounds.
This game isn't going to die anytime soon. There's a lot to extract, and scrutinize, the latter we've done plenty of and they've listened to. One of these days, soon enough, I'll upgrade my PC to run this at max settings. Right now, everything maxed out with RT at med, and FSR setting at Performance.
I kicked the sharpness bit really up, but the upscaling seemingly works better at any resolution higher than 1080p. HDR10PQ retains peak contrast in the rendering quality. The specs I have below.
