Bubsy 4D is coming to all current gen consoles and PC thanks to Atari. I am sure there is someone out there that is happy to hear this news. The bobcat led action game will be available in both digital and physical formats at different prices. I can say, I am thankful that a publisher understands digital should be cheaper than physical so there is that going for Bubsy 4D.
A Mix of Genres
Bubsy 4D, a title I covered the announcement many months ago here on Hive, is a mix of 2.5D and full-on 3D – kind of like Pandemonium meets Super Mario 64. At least it appears that way in the trailer, which doesn’t show anything for too long before quickly cutting to something else.
There also appears to be a lock-on style option to help keep the action flowing in the 3D sections. Something I wish more 3D action games had, honestly.
Graphically Looking Good
I am not going to lie, Bubsy 4D has a nice graphic style – it appears to be slightly cell shaded but not completely. Something similar to Fortnite’s older art style. It works and looks good, nostalgic even though there is nothing really like it to compare to.
If you want a physical edition of Bubsy 4D then I hope you are a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 owner. Collector’s Editions will be available for those Nintendo consoles priced at $49.99 (Switch 2) and $39.99 (Switch) available via Atari’s online store.
According to Gematsu.com fans will get a copy of the game, a tuck-in exterior box, user manual, poster, and art book. Not a bad mix of items included at, honestly, a great price considering what most Nintendo Switch 2 games retail for.
Digital editions will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Good Old Games (GoG). Unless you want achievements and bragging rights with friends, I suggest grabbing the GoG version as it will likely be DRM free.
Release date is set for May 22nd, 2026. So, who is a Bubsy fan? Let me know in the comments below.
