In case you did not know, a fan is porting Castlevania Rondo of Blood to the Sega Geneis. They are having quite impressive results in this journey so far. This Castlevania entry was originally released for the PC Engine CD-ROM2 platform. Konami did not bring that version over to North America, but they did include it in various collections as an extra to unlock. Back in the day, the closest we got was Dracula X for the Super Nintendo but that was like saying Mario is Missing is similar to Super Mario Bros 3 if you play as Luigi. Sega’s platforms in North America only got one Castlevania game. A fan is working on making that two.
Roll That Beautiful Castlevania Footage
This newest video that werton playskin has released focuses on Maria and part of level 2. Particularly the Ferryman section.
There is not a lot going on in this section but what happens will keep you on your toes. Dropping down to the Ferryman, you hitch a ride across the river. This is a Castlevania game so you know it is not going to be just a simple boat ride from Point A to Point B.
Along the way, fishmen attack and you must dispatch them.
Fans Continue to Do What Gaming Companies Won’t
Thanks to the Sega Genesis Development Kit (SGDK) we are getting this port of Castlevania Rondo of Blood. I am not all that familiar with SGDK myself, but it appears to be more of an interpreter for Sega’s console rather than an all-in-one game engine, like the Scorpion Engine.
SGDK requires proficient understanding of how the C programming language. I am not trying to be elitist but this will more than likely keep asset swaps from being released using it.
What do you think? Are you ready to take on Castlevania Rond of Blood using a Sega Genesis controller?
