What's up gamers, how are you? I hope you're all doing well. Today I'm here to tell you that I've finally finished Dead Island 2, and let me tell you, yes, it's worth it. But let's face it, everything has its nuances, right? Of course, the game is packed with action, full of gore, blood, lots of dead bodies, and tons of violence. It's a frenetic game, sometimes with pauses, but it's definitely fast-paced. And well, depending on how you play it, when I say I finished the game, I mean I've finished it, but not 100%. I haven't done any side quests, rescued people, or completed another phase that requires 100% completion, but I have finished the main story completely.
So, well, there are a few things to consider. I suppose the story continues from the first game, something I'm not entirely clear about since I didn't play the first one. However, the story of the second game seems to be standalone and will continue in the third, which is apparently still in development. Nevertheless, the story has its merits. Let's see, the story itself is a bit bland in certain aspects. I mentioned this in another post, and if the story doesn't grab you from the beginning, it's only towards the end that you start to wonder about the mystery of the Numen.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but yes, it's around the last four quests that the story gets really interesting and you start to think about what's been happening. But the game ends right there when it starts to get engaging. The gameplay overshadows the story quite a bit, and it feels very rushed, with a rather unspectacular ending, or at least that's my opinion. I think that after everything that happened, a final battle while Emma and the others escaped would have been brutal. However, you're left thinking, "Oh well..." So, on one hand, the story might feel flat.
Nothing to say about the combat except for the firearms. As I mentioned, the developers have focused on melee attacks and haven't enhanced the firearms. In other words, they lack the punch and power you'd expect from a firearm, so they're overshadowed by the melee weapons. Nothing beats the feeling of killing a zombie with a direct hit from a firearm. This is definitely something the developers should consider for Dead Island 3.
The game isn't bad, and it leaves you wanting to play the third one just to find out what really happens with the mystery of the cure and the scientist's daughter. This isn't at all clear, though. You also say that the combat dynamics will surely be much better, and it really makes you want to see what it will be like in the next game, which we'll have to wait for. It's not a 10/10, as I mentioned; it has several aspects that could be improved. Perhaps I haven't mentioned them all in this post, but I did address them one by one throughout my series of posts. This is the last article in this Dead Island 2 series, and I hope you've enjoyed all the posts and this final review of the game.
I recommend Dead Island 2, especially if you like zombies. I think any fan of the genre will enjoy it quite a bit and find its little charms in the story. If you can get it for free on the Epic Games Store, even better—that's how I got it. I don't think I would have bought this game otherwise; I mean, if it hadn't been for the freebie, I probably wouldn't have played it, maybe ever. But anyway, I got to play it, and here's my final review. See you later, gamers.
