Hey gamers, how are you all doing? Hope everyone is doing great and having a good weekend. So, I keep going at it in Predecessor, buying and discovering new characters, and this is honestly one of the things about MOBAs that you just have to accept and embrace — you need to get comfortable with pretty much every character in the role you play. And in this case, that's exactly what I'm doing with the Carry role, which is the role I've been playing the most lately. So yeah, I went ahead and bought Skylar, and let me tell you, this character is something else entirely.
Now before we get into the gameplay side of things, let me give you a little bit of Skylar's background because it's actually pretty cool. She's a dynamic aerial combat Carry who utilizes ancient alien technology to soar through the air and blast her opponents from above. Growing up in the alleys of Vexis, she never knew safety or comfort — only streets, static, and selling stolen tech. Scrappy, brilliant, and cocky to a fault, she earned a reputation as the city's most slippery tech-jacker. Everything changed when she got her hands on a prototype plasma cannon from a Thermax Industries blacksite and now she's on the run, keeping low and hitting hard. Honestly? That backstory fits her playstyle perfectly.
Skylar is a Carry by excellence
So let me get into why I think Skylar is just a flat-out carry by excellence. She's classified as Advanced difficulty, so she's not exactly a character you pick up and immediately dominate with. There's a learning curve, and you'll feel it. But once you start understanding her kit and how to position, things get really, really interesting. Skylar is weak in the early game, so she needs to prioritize farming and limit fights at this stage. This is key — don't be that Skylar player who's going in swinging at level 2. Farm up, stay safe, and let the game come to you.
What makes her so deadly is her ability kit. Her primary ability launches a nano grenade that bounces around and slows enemies, which is incredible for poking in lane. Then you have her Hypercharge ability — it converts bonus attack speed into on-hit physical damage and lets her attack at a fixed rate of 10 attacks per second, and at maximum stacks, she deals damage equal to a percentage of the target's Bonus Physical Armor. This thing absolutely melts tanks and heavily armored targets. And her ultimate, the Atomizer? It supercharges her rifle to the brink of destruction before unleashing a massive orb of unstable energy toward its target — traveling any distance until it crashes into an obstacle or enemy hero, exploding on impact and dealing enormous damage. One shot, one kill is absolutely possible with this thing if the enemy is already low. It's brutal. And her passive, Dissonance, is the cherry on top — enemy units explode on death dealing extra physical damage, and bringing down a hero causes that explosion to grow even larger. So in a teamfight where things are already chaotic, she just starts chaining explosions like crazy.
The aerial mobility on top of all of this is what makes her stand out from other carries. Aerial attacks give Skylar a lot of advantages, and being able to reposition mid-fight using her jetpack mechanic is something that takes time to master but once you do, she becomes incredibly hard to pin down. You can hover, shoot from above, reposition and keep dishing out damage while enemies try to figure out where you are. It's a ton of fun.
Some of the best items to buy with Skylar
Now, for building her, the philosophy is pretty straightforward. Skylar needs items that increase attack speed, making it easy to poke and kite enemies from a distance. Attack speed feeds directly into her Hypercharge ability, which is where most of her damage comes from in sustained fights. You want to stack up those on-hit hits as fast as possible. A build centered around Vanquisher, Spectra, Terminus, and Demolisher is something the community has been running with solid results, and from what I've been trying, it works really well. The idea is to combine attack speed with enough physical power so that when you go Hypercharge mode, you're not just tickling people — you're genuinely shredding them. Critical chance is also something worth investing into later in the build because at level 18 you can realistically hit 100% crit chance alongside nearly 245% attack speed, which is just an absolutely absurd amount of damage output. I've been refining my build little by little every match and each game I feel like I understand her better.
One tip I'd throw in here is to not sleep on Lifesteal either. She can take quite a bit of punishment if you're not positioning correctly, and having a bit of sustain lets you stay in fights longer and actually make use of those late-game power spikes.
Her best support is in combination with Pashe
Now here's where things get really fun. If you're playing duo queue or you happen to have a support that actually knows what they're doing, pair Skylar with Pashe and you'll understand what the carry role is truly supposed to feel like. Pashe's kit revolves around keeping her allies alive and enabling them to dish out damage safely, and Skylar is exactly the kind of Carry that thrives in that environment. Skylar wants to sit back, kite, poke, and ramp up. Pashe protects that window and gives Skylar the breathing room to get her stacks going and her build online. Once you hit mid-to-late game with this duo and Skylar has two or three core items, enemies just melt. There's really no other way to describe it. Every time I've had a decent Pashe supporting me, the lane phase is so much smoother and the team fights feel like a completely different game. So if you're going ranked and you can coordinate, that combo is something to absolutely take advantage of.
Eager to buy more new characters
So yeah gamers, I'm really enjoying this journey through the Carry role in Predecessor. Skylar is a character that rewards patience and proper positioning, and once it clicks, she's genuinely one of the most satisfying characters to play in the entire roster. Still figuring out the full depth of her kit, still refining the build, but I can already say with confidence that this purchase was absolutely worth it. I'm already eyeing more characters to add to the collection and keep expanding my pool. So stay tuned because there's definitely more Predecessor content coming. I'll see you guys in the next one!
