Hello there! This is kind of a last-ditch effort of a post, but I feel like it is worth a shot. Stop Killing Games is a project started by Ross Scott of Accursed Farms, which tries to bring attention to the games industry's practice of removing end-user access to games they have paid for, because those games have mandated online connections to function. Essentially, this targets games with online DRM, games requiring servers for game logic and generally live service games, and doesn't seek to stop those games from being made or from continuing to operate, even though those are common misconceptions realting to the initiative, but to actually create a legal framework in which those games could still be playable after their publishers shut down the servers. In simpler terms, it is a concentrated effort to preserve those games, which, at the moment, are designed with an expiration date.
The initiative's end date is the end of July 2025 (so a bit over a month from the time of writing this), and it requires a cumulative total of 1 million signatures from European Union Citizens, hence my attempt to bring more attention to it. If you care about game preservation or are at the very least concerned about an always online game you are playing, please sign the initiative and maybe spread the word.
I will attach Ross's final video relating to the initiative, detailing all the hurdles he encountered along the way, and links to sign it. Cheers!
