I've been wanting to buy a laptop since a long time now. I had also made a post previously about deciding between a Mac and a Windows laptop.
After a lot of research and visits to multiple stores to check out the laptops in person, I finally decided to go for a Windows laptop. The top spec macs weren't that light anyway.
One big question of Mac vs Windows was solved.
The next question was it needed to have a decent specs that would be relevant even 5-7 years down the line.
Hence, I decided to go for an i7 or i9 (nothing below i7) for processor.
I'd also be using number pad as I would also do office work on it. Hence, all the options that didn't have number pad on them went away. (Including Dell Inspiron 16 Plus on which I was getting a really great deal)
It would have to have a decent graphics card since I'd be using it for video editing and occasional gaming purpose.
After almost 2+ weeks of research and watching reviews, I finally decided on going for the newly launched Lenovo Legion 7i. The first hand reviews of Legion series laptops were amazing. Majority were happy with their purchase.
The laptop is slim, moderate weight, has all the bells and whistles such as RGB keyboard, 3.2K screen, RTX 4060 8GB graphic card, Intel i9 14900HX (which is the top of the line processor at the moment), a beautiful looking form factor with moderate weight, absolutely gorgeous glacier white color, fingerprint scanner, 1080p webcam, a lot of USB ports, a wireless gaming mouse, a super-cool backpack and what not, at a fraction of the price of the top of the line Mac book Pro 16.
I'm pretty sure you're eagerly waiting to see the pictures more than the write-up, so here go the pictures:
To be honest, the more I look at it the more I fall in love with it.
The design of this laptop is perfection materialized.
So far I've played a multiplayer game, browsed the web, watched YouTube videos.
I enjoyed everything except the battery life:
While gaming, if the adapter is not plugged in I hardly get 1 hour of battery life.
While browsing and watching videos I have got 4+ hours. Will need to do multiple tests to get an accurate value for these numbers.
Other than that there's a bit of heating when plugged in and playing a game but it's not unbearable. Cooling fan sound can be heard when gaming.
Speaker sound quality is moderate. Not bad though.
It weighs around 2.29kgs. Not at all bad for a laptop packing so much performance. It doesn't feel too heavy when you lift it.
I have one complaint though: The lights at the rear for charging port doesn't light up although HDMI port next to it does. It is some manufacturing defect I'm assuming. I am not going to send it back for such a small issue though but you don't expect to face these minor issues on Day 1 when you pay a premium.
I have learned to live with it though.
Overall, this laptop gets a 8.75/10 from me.
