What comes to mind when you hear about the word cosmos? In this case, cosmos is a flower, itโs one of those little looking sunflowers with various colors and especially red. This coffee was named after the flower because it has the fragrance of the flower.
As the packaging mentioned, this coffee is cultivated in Wonosalam east java with a profile of yellow watermelon, almond and cacao nibs. Just based on those descriptions alone, you can expect that it has a pleasantly sour floral taste and fragrant. This coffee is also medium roasted. So, if you enjoy another fragrant medium roast, Cosmos is a great option. Another uniqueness is that this coffee is a blend between Robusta and Arabica.
Its producer mentioned that basically he wants to introduce robusta to the world because usually with filter coffee, the coffee used is often arabica. He mentioned that there are two different process used in the blend and the composition is 15% robusta and the rest are arabica.
Also, Usually, fruity, fragrant coffee is best to have during summer days. They always freshen up the day and the smell is really pleasant and invigorating. With this type of coffee, my favorite of brewing them is v60 japanese method. In this method, weโre using ice cubes to brew the coffee and use more room temperature than hot water.
Lately, I also tried James Hoffman techniques that you can see below. In the past, I often rinsed my paper with hot water but I tried his technique by rinsing it in the sink. I do notice the difference and the ice doesnโt melt as fast as when I was rinsing it with hot water.
If you wonder if the coffee taste would be watered down and gone, unfortunately I have to say that is not the case. You can still pretty much taste all the flavors and the refreshing aroma that comes from it.
Anyhow, if you truly enjoy an invigorating drink, try coffee that has cosmos fragrant.
If you think robusta isnโt good for filter coffee, this combination is also quite mind boggling.
See you in my next brew!
