I used to dislike this coffee shop until it came into my small town.
During Covid, this coffee shop is one of those places that only accepts QR and Cashless payment. It is one of its differences and “unique” selling point compared to many other coffee shops in Yogyakarta at the time. Somehow, the place is considered as a fast coffee and it’s hassle free ordering as well as its menu. And this is Arah Coffee, a coffee shop focusing on the intersection of coffee and embracing technology.
In the past, Arah coffee was not considered a good tier coffee. Its coffee quality was so poor that it almost tasted like drinking bitter water without any flavor at all. These days, they have managed to compete with the other coffee startups and businesses in Indonesia. They also re-brand their aesthetic of the place that makes it so convenient for a certain segment market, which is anyone around 20-late 30s.
Then, it came into my small town offering a premium experience. While technically it is similar to other spots in other cities, the difference is that they are the best in town when it comes to the place and architecture. It is very convenient to be inside the room and makes it the best place for a 3rd home. It’s very supportive to work from and extremely convenient to do things in the place.
I enjoyed my experience and despite its price closer to Starbucks, I didn’t mind paying the price. Afterall, with coffee shops these days, we are paying for the place more than the coffee itself.
Some of their pastries are legitimately so good. So, not only the place that wins me over and its coldness but also the food quality that gets better each day and their pastries option. It's why I changed my mind from disliking this place to actually like the place and enjoy being there.
