Greetings!
Today, I harvested my first my first chilis which I planted last August. I planted red and green chili. But our dogs destroyed all the green chili but one, and the only one that is left is still growing its fruit. I bought seedlings of this chili from the market. A few days ago I posted an update about my chilis when I saw about 2-3 fruit turning red. Today, I think there are enough for making "Artem" so I harvested all the ripe red chilis.
While harvesting some of my red chilis
I am making a dip called "Artem". The ripe chilis are enough to make artem so I harvested them today. Artem is one of the most popular dips here in our town particularly in Ilokano-speaking communities.
Transplanting the second batch of tomatoes
As of the moment my current tomatoes are in the midst of growing their fruits and a few days from now I am also going to harvest them.
My main goal when I started a new garden was vegetable sustainability. So, today, I am going to transplant my tomato seedlings into their permanent location and eventually, they are going to replace my current mature tomatoes. This is the first time that I am going to do this, having another batch of tomatoes while the mature tomatoes are currently fruiting and will be harvested in just a few days.
There are lots of seedlings germinated but I did not waste any single one of them. I tried hard to find a location to plant all of them and I will do my best to grow them. Below is a GIF image of the last tomato seedlings that I transplanted.
Experimenting with green chili
Green chili is one of the most well-used ingredients in our everyday cooking. So, I bought some seedlings from the market to be planted on my vegetables. The problem is that all of them were destroyed but one (by our pet dogs). It saddens me, so, today, I am going to experiment by germinating ripe green chili seeds (image below) and see if they do germinate. If they do germinate I am going to make this my way of germinating green chili seeds going forward. This ripe green chili is not from my crop. My wife bought it to be used in cooking. This is a left-over and ripens after a few days
I first split open the ripe green chili. The seeds seem very very healthy and ready to be planted. I only got one left-over ripe green chili at the moment. But I will search our kitchen tomorrow and see if there is still left that I did not see.
I used one of my old seedling trays to germinate the seed. Hopefully, they will germinate.
Trying out Star Fruit
And just today, one of my uncles who is living nearby gave me an over-riped star fruit. He said, "This is a Star Fruit, see if you can grow it". I obliged. Star Fruit is also used in some of our dishes.
These are the seeds that I got from one Star Fruit. I am going to try to germinate and see if I will be successful. If successful, I am sure my uncle will be glad to hear it.
I took a vacant blag back from my garden and distributed the seeds evenly.
That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.
