Greetings friends garden lovers, here I bring you a fertilizer that I use to make my plants bloom and get better harvests. I prepared this one with the tomato water š left over from making a pizza sauce; this way you can take full advantage of the benefits of this vegetable.
Tomatoes are rich in phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and potassium, essential elements to keep plants in a healthy condition. To further enhance its properties I added the residues of the coffee that I use daily, also called posos or borra. It is important to note that I do not add pure coffee but the residues that are left in the coffee pot or strainer after preparing our daily coffee. ā
These residues of the brewed coffee contain a considerable amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium which favors the plants allowing them to have the necessary nutrients for the production of flowers and fruits.
How to prepare it?
Boil the tomatoes that are going to be used to prepare the sauce, then drain and store the water in a container, let it cool and mix it with the coffee residue in two gallons of water.
Then proceed to fertilize the plants by placing the equivalent of one cup of this preparation in the substrate of each plant. This preparation can be applied to the plants once a week or every 15 days since it is not advisable to nourish them in excess.
How effective is this fertilizer?
For several years I have been applying the coffee grounds (dry) to the plants and I have noticed that they become more beautiful increasing their flowering.
At the beginning of the year with the tomato season I was able to prepare a pizza sauce and then I wondered if I could reuse the water left over from cooking them. I started to analyze its components and realized that it has nutrients very similar to those in the commercial fertilizers sold in nurseries and gardening stores. I diluted it in water and applied it to the substrate. The results were fabulous.
From the experience obtained by using these two ingredients separately as a natural fertilizer, it occurred to me to mix them and apply them to the plants, which allowed me to observe a notable increase in flowering and therefore in fruit production.
Here are some photos of the plants in my garden after applying this preparation:
Today I was checking my plants and I found this surprise which I had not seen because it was covered with weeds. I don't know how long it will take to harvest but I hope to be able to eat it in a few days since this is one of the fruits that I love the most.
I am very happy because my fruit trees are in full production, I harvested three pineapples and I was able to prepare several recipes with them in my kitchen. Now it's time to wait for the soursops and watermelons.
I hope you can take advantage of these ingredients that we often discard at home to have more beautiful gardens. A big hug to all š¤
