Since I was very little I have been in contact with nature, my father has been a gardener for as long as I can remember: with him I have learned a lot about plants and techniques for caring for them. Always in our home there was no lack of "cambur" trees or as many know it "banana". Also in our house we had a huge coconut palm, with a unique and sweet flavor.

Desde muy pequeña he estado en contacto con la naturaleza, mi papá es jardinero desde que tengo memoria: con él he aprendido mucho sobre las plantas y técnicas de su cuidado. Siempre en nuestro hogar no faltaban los árboles de “cambur” o como muchos lo conocen “banana”. También en nuestra casa teníamos una enorme palma de cocos, con un sabor único y dulce.
Now that I have become independent, I have tried to follow the many pieces of advice that I have learned from him and that he continues to give me today.
In the backyard of my current house, I have many trees, among them is a mango tree. This has been its third harvest, the first was in 2021. At first its fruits had a kind of disease, I sought advice on what I could do, however, many recommended me to cut down the tree since according to that pest or disease it would not give way with no pesticide. Then the bachacos invaded me and began to eat its leaves, I opted to buy a poison called "ultramirex" that immediately made them disappear.
This year beginning in April the tree began to flower, then in mid-April and early May it began to give its juicy mangoes, to my surprise they did not have any type of plague, the disease had subsided. The mangoes are totally healthy again, clean and with an exquisite flavor.
Ahora que me independicé he tratado de seguir los tantos consejos que he aprendido de él y que hoy en día me los sigue impartiendo.
En el patio de mi actual casa, tengo muchos árboles, entre ellos está un árbol de mangos. Esta ha sido su tercera cosecha, la primera fue en el 2021. Al principio sus frutos tenían como especie de una enfermedad, busqué consejos de qué podía hacer, sin embargo, muchos me recomendaron cortar el árbol ya que según esa peste o enfermedad no cedería con ningún pesticida. Luego me invadieron los bachacos y comenzaron a comer sus hojas, opté por compra un veneno llamado “ultramirex” que de inmediato los hizo desaparecer.
Este año empezando el mes de abril el árbol comenzó a florecer, luego a mediados de abril y principios de mayo comenzó a dar sus jugosos mangos, para mi sorpresa no tenían ningún tipo de peste, había cedido la enfermedad. Los mangos están totalmente sanos otra vez, limpios y con un sabor exquisito.
Today I wanted to clean up the backyard, since the tree made a carpet of leaves and weeds had sprung up, so I started by cleaning up the weeds and later raking the entire backyard.
Hoy quise limpiar el patio, ya que el árbol hizo una alfombra de hojas y había salido maleza, así que empecé por limpiar la mala hierba y posteriormente rastrillar todo el patio.
Then I began to pick the fruits one by one and placed them in several buckets. I was able to collect about 10 kilograms of mango just today, the previous days it has been much more! And I have been able to share with neighbors and friends who love this fruit as much as me.
Luego comencé a recoger uno a uno los frutos y los colocaba en varios baldes, pude recolectar como 10 kilogramos de mango sólo el día de hoy, los días anteriores ¡ha sido mucho más!, y he podido compartir con vecinos y amigos que aman esta fruta tanto como yo.
Many birds have taken advantage of tasting such delicious fruit in my backyard. In my case, I was able to drink a tasty mango juice with pineapple. This fruit has a great nutritional contribution since it is a source of many vitamins, including vitamin C.
En mi patio han aprovechado de degustar tan deliciosa fruta muchísimos pájaros. En mi caso pude tomar un sabroso jugo de mango con piña. Esta fruta tiene un gran aporte nutricional ya que es una fuente de muchas vitaminas, entre ellas la vitamina C.
The mango that grows in my garden is known in my country Venezuela as “dudu” mango or “boca´o (bite)” mango.
I have read that before consuming it it is important to wash them very well, because something that I have noticed about mangoes is that flies are around them a lot, something that brings many diseases.
El mango que se da en mi jardín se conoce en mi país Venezuela como mango “dudu” o mango “boca´o (bocado)”.
He leído que antes de consumirlo es importante lavarlos muy bien, porque algo que si he notado de los mangos es que las moscas los rodean mucho, algo que trae muchas enfermedades.
This has been the seasonal fruit in my country, I want to take advantage of making a jelly and keep it as a preserve for when the harvest is gone, still being able to delight myself with its delicious flavor.
