Hello Gardeners, I am back again to give an update about our mini vegetable garden at home. This time I will share about the harvesting time of our available vegetables and spices in our garden. This is my participation in the #GardenJournal July Challenge
Hubby didn't know that I didn't spend the money that we got from selling our vegetables. I just have to tell him yesterday that I save it for emergency purposes.
He felt happy that I was able to save our income from selling some of our vegetables and spices from our garden.
Yesterday hubby decided to harvest whatever was available to harvest in our garden. I wasn't able to capture the time he harvested it since I was washing my laundry.
He harvested our sword pepper, eggplant, and tomatoes.
Since we don't use any chemical on our plants, it is prone to pests and worms. Hubby only uses mixed dishwashing liquid and cooking oil mixed with water as a sprayer for our plants to get rid of the pests attacking our plants.
It is so obvious that we didn't use any chemical spray for our tomatoes because you can see that the tomato skin is not that smooth and fair. It has dark spots on it.
Hubby thought that he can't sell all his sword pepper because some of it is not a bit smaller but I told him that some people want the smaller ones so he sells everything.
That's the only eggplant we had since one of our neighbors bought around half a kilo the other day. Our eggplant was attacked by pests and worms too. Especially this rainy season.
After hubby harvested our sword pepper, eggplant, and tomatoes he sell them at the nearest wet market in our place. We got 160 pesos from everything we sold.
For now, we gathered a total of 352 pesos from selling our vegetables and spices from our garden. Not included are some sales that hubby uses for buying fertilizers for our plants. We are excited to earn more from our garden.
Around lunchtime yesterday hubby told me to harvest one of our bottle gourd so we can have it for our lunch.
I cooked the bottled gourd with can sardines. It was our first time to harvest our bottle gourd and we are happy that we save a lot from having our own grown vegetables in our garden.
We are so thankful that God gave us some blessings through our garden at home. It is a big help for us not only for not buying everything at the market but also earn little by little from our garden.
Hopefully, we can expand and plant more different kinds of vegetables so we can have more extra income.
Hubby started to grow some seedlings of tomatoes, pechay , and eggplant.
