This is what I am dealing with right now. every year I am more amazed by the force of life the land has gotten, the result of seven years of no teal, no burn and leaving the grass to rot on site where it is being sythed down. walking bare feet on the soil feels like walking on a giant sponge.
I am 1.85m tall and you can see how the oat plants are towering over me. often while cutting them down they fall on top of me.
A line of agro-forestry all lost in the growth.
and the land has given me the green light to go on and cut down the grass, now that the Lupins have produced seed. this way we make sure to have them come back and expend every season and hence keeping feeding the soil with Nitrogen in an ever growing amount.
over the next few days, I will be doing a lot of this clearing.
a job for today was to re-install the pallet shade protection over our first year Pecan trees.
we do this normally every 15 of May to protect the delicate leaves from the solar radiation. this year I considered not putting them up at all but changed my mind.
the pallets face the south and protect the young trees at about 14:00 when radiation is at its peak and will remain in place until the end of August.
the Pecans are accompanied by plants of Comfrey, a mineral accumulator, which brings through its root action, minerals closer to the surface to be then used by the Pecans.
Our giant bamboo is already about 1m. taller then its 1 year ago self. slowly shedding the culm sheaths and opening leaves.
thank you for stopping by 🙏
wishing us all a peaceful rest of the week.
