Hello Gardeners of Hive!
It has been months and months since I last shared here. To be honest, it has been months since I really dedicated time to gardening. These days I would consider the work I do most so landscaping. Moving rocks out of paths, pruning very old trees to hopefully give them a new phase of growth - that is what I have been up to. My once tended to veggie patch has gone wild. I am embracing the wildness of this phase of my life and, actually encouraging it.
That takes me right to the video that I wanted to share with you all today. This video isn't exactly about gardening. Well it is and it isn't This is a video about how gardeners can play a key role in the lives of butterflies. And gardening is key to the role we humans can play. I briefly considered sharing this in an insect related community but, I have never been very active, in those. And besides, my approach to studying butterflies has everything to do with my little gardens.
I say this is a guide to butterfly ecology but, there is still so much left to say. Think of this as a part one, or introduction to butterfly gardens. Still, I can say that I attempted to explain the basics of what butterflies need to thrive. And you can be sure that gardens are a big part of that.
