It’s been about a month since I last updated you on our startup garden.
I am happy to report that we have a few plants that are doing extremely well. Unfortunately some of what we planted never sprouted. More on that a bit later in this post.
During our last watering we had to pick out a few more weeds and shew a few black bugs away. You can see they are slowly eating at the plants but thankfully not enough to completely destroy them.
I will show you a comparison to what the plants looked like the last time I reported compared to how they look today.
The last update of the garden was on June 12th. All current photos were taken on June 30th. Let’s see how far our bell pepper plants have come.

I know right?! They are sprouting so beautifully 😍!!
We were a bit nervous with all the mild weather we had going on for awhile. Most of our plants are hot weathered so we were hoping for some hotter days. It is nice to have a break from the heat and to see the rain fall but we want to see our vegetables do well too 😁.
It’s really nice to be able to document the progress here because I’ll be able to look back and remember these stages.
Now onto our tomato plant (we have more than one but I’m only sharing the plants that had the biggest growth spurt).

We need to start purchasing stakes for when these start really growing tall. We’ll see where they are by next month. 😃
We’re not sure what kind of tomatoes will be growing because I purchased a variety seed pack. I wanted to try out different colors and shapes so it will be a mystery 🧐.

I can’t get over how pretty this herb is. I normally cook with dried basil so it will be fun harvesting this and using it in my dishes.
It looks like this will be the first one we’ll be harvesting from. I was reading about it and learned that the more you harvest from your basil plant, the more it will produce. It’s recommended to harvest from your plant every few days in the summer to make it more bushier.
You don’t have to tell me twice 😆. We’ll start doing this tomorrow. Stay tuned for that sharing. I’ll also try to share photos of the dish I make with the fresh basil. 😋
Now that I’ve delivered the good news it’s time for the not so fortunate info.
The cilantro, chamomile, parsley and spearmint we planted did not sprout one bit ☹️. We replanted the parsley and spearmint but didn’t have any of the other plants left.
It’s all good though because this is all a learning experience and I know with time we will figure things out and understand what we need to do better for the next round.
May I ask you fellow gardeners how many seeds do you plant for each spot?
For the plants that are doing well, we planted just two seeds per hole. The second time around for the ones that didn’t sprout we planted four. I’m curious to know how others do theirs.
I’ll keep you posted on the replanting progress. I’m hoping this time around we’ll get to see some parsley and spearmint 🙏🏽.
You know I can’t leave you without reporting what the kids were up to. Each time we visit Mr. and Mrs. B’s land there’s a new adventure awaiting.
We discovered the peach and apple trees were growing some delicious treats!
My son found this peach on the ground. It’s what alerted us to look up and search the trees. The kids are anticipating picking the fruit as soon as they ripen.
Last update I showed you some messy berry hands from the kids picking and eating the blackberries right off the bushes. Those were truly a yummy treat.
This time around the kids enjoyed searching and picking the ripened blueberries. Mr. B provided them with a bowl to gather them in. They went straight to town on them lol. I had to make sure to grab a few before they were all gone.
We are loving every moment we’re spending out there with our friends and garden. I can’t say enough how blessed and thankful we are for such an opportunity.
