Hello to all gardeners. In my country today is St. Mrata's holiday and there is a belief that on this day the gardens must be harvested. There is a saying "Sveti Mrata, snow on the door".There is also a belief that on Mratindan it is predicted what kind of winter it will be like. If the day is foggy, winter will be changeable, and if it is clear and sunny, there will be frost.I wrote a post that I sowed the garden in September before the start of autumn. I had not done it before and I did not even know. Namely, some types of vegetables can be sown and harvested at the end of November. Without watering and special care because the weather is a little rainy, a little sunny. That's what I did, I dug up the potatoes and picked the green beans and left the rest because even the snow won't bother him. I didn't make a mistake. Snow greeted me this mornin
When the first autumn/winter frost comes and the potatoes and green beans are killed, the autumn gardening season officially ends. Now comes the winter season with winter vegetables. December is ideal for sowing beans and peas/beans, so we will do that too and no more seeds will go into the ground this year. Winter is ahead of us and it will be abundant with cabbage and lettuce.
Winter lettuce grew between the potatoes. The potatoes were out, and the lettuce continued to develop freely with plenty of air.
Kale is looking great and is ready to harvest. With each subsequent frost it will contain more sugar and become sweeter. There is no better combination than Pork and Kale. My mouth is already watering haha
Colorful cabbage always lags behind other varieties, but it is still a first-class product and, in my opinion, the most delicious cabbage there is.
Italian Spitz. Excellent, sweet, tough, salad cooking is still top.
The broccoli is starting to grow. Maybe I shouldn't have replanted them, but there will be plenty to pick.
The most famous local Dalmatian cabbage, brought to me by a friend from the coastal town of Olitiga Rudica. Characteristic is large leaf mass, large white heads but they are not compacted and hard like cabbage for pickling. Not for salad but excellent for cooking. Some people pickle it, but not me.
Ordinary white cauliflower. It has been waiting for lower temperatures so the head will start growing rapidly.
Chinese cabbage. First time trying this year. A little tougher when cooked. A combination of cabbage, Swiss chard and Swiss chard. It takes a little longer to cook but it's delicious.
Purple cauliflower. Like the common white one, the head soon develops
Beets are peeled, gently through 12 months of desserts or pickling
Carrots underground, as thick as a finger. They are not removed from the ground and are harvested slowly until spring.
Endive is a great winter salad, when there's nothing in the garden in winter, there's this.
That's all for now from my small but rich garden. I hope you like it and thanks for reading.
