On Monday morning I was bound and determined to get the tomatoes suckered and tied up. I went out at 7AM and got them all done. It was wicked humid but not hot yet.
So I did the small amount of weeding needing done in this garden.
Most of the brassicas were planted way too late and are showing the stress of that, not to mention the heat. The only ones doing well are the kohlrabi.
The onions have not yet recovered from such a late planting either. I finished in this garden by 7:30 and was soaking wet from sweat. So I got some photos around the gardens and went in for a shower.
The Big garden is doing pretty well, just kale and peas have done poorly.
The rows in the New Herb garden that we got done are doing well. I have flowers on the Joe Pye this year.
The echinacea I wondered would survive the transplanting is now flowering just 3 weeks later. The bee balm was beaten down in all the storms but is flowering profusely. And the peppermint and spearmint are flowering.
I had been working on getting the laundry finished so after my shower I got it folded and put away, first time in a few weeks. By then I was getting really tired so I went to lay down. The phone rang about 11AM and it was the animal shelter. They wanted to know if I wanted to foster Larry for a week while treating an eye infection.
So I called my neighbor and a trip was planned. That will be another post…
