Rugosa rose hip
On Thursday I didn’t get up until 6:15AM and was moving pretty slowly. I got myself and the cats fed and went back to bed. I was pretty depressed about the health insurance debacle. At 9AM the phone rings and it is MassHealth. The Eligibility Specialist had news.
Bright fall-like day
She had taken my case to her supervisor and some others and because I was medically eligible for the Widows’ Waiver, and from the information I had sent and my past history, they issued a special permission for me to go onto CommonHealth until the end of the year. This will give the Disability Services time to do more testing on me and finalize the application. I still will have to pay for Part B of Medicare but I will have full coverage.
MacIntosh - 3 of the 5 apples for this year
That good news got me out of bed and started for the day. I got started cleaning the kitchen, got the laundry put away, and a few other chores. My helper friend arrived at 11:30 and we got the rest of the kitchen cleaned up. He did the floors and then went outside.
My back wasn’t that good so I stayed inside and read.
He almost finished pulling most of the weeds out of the New East garden before he had to go.
Big garden - mesclun jungle
I made calls to all the people who had been helping me with this MassHealth mess. They had never heard of this special permission thing and were glad to know about it. It might help others in my predicament.
Big garden - pumpkin ⅔ of the way along south fence
Big garden - escapees on east side
Big garden - 3 big pumpkins inside
Big garden - 2 big pumpkins outside (the other is very green…)
Big garden - gourds on pea fences
Big garden - jungle riot
A while back in the Big garden I pulled all the buggy leaves off the kale and chard. They have come back beautifully, almost no bug pressure.
Also along the pea fence are 2 nicotiana plants. I’ve not planted those in 10 or 15 years.
Big rose
East Shed - morning glories in the 7 Sister rose
These haven’t been planted in 20 or 25 years but every year some come up.
In the Small garden the tomatoes are finally starting to ripen. I’m hoping I will have 10# or so by next Tuesday when I make the final batch of spaghetti sauce. There are peppers ripening too.
Also in the Small garden there are 2 cauliflowers. My brother and I are planning to make something with them on Saturday night.
And I have lots of big lovely cabbages in the Small garden.
I had gotten this book from the library on Wednesday night. I’ve found it compelling reading, it just pulls you in. I’d read half of it by the time I went to bed on Thursday. Larry thinks reading is very cool. He can lay on me and get all the pats he wants. It’s way better than watching movies, as it’s quieter.
On Friday my helper friend will be here at 8AM and I think we are going to clean out flowerbeds.
