East Shed garden – snow crocus
On Tuesday morning I was up around 6AM and got the cat fed, got the stoves going, and got my catch up post written. Then I got a load in the dishwasher and cleaned up the kitchen. I sat down for a while, then got up and finished laundry.

My helper friend arrived at 10:30AM and while I was getting ready for the day, he got a few chores done and started watering house plants. Then we headed out to do inventory.
We did a little in the garden shed as there are 2 trash cans in there then moved around to the Tonka garage. That took about ½ hour to do. So we came inside and headed down to the old cellar.
First we did the foliar amendments, then the lights, and finally the soil storage. Last we tackled the peat pots. I knew the mice had been in the big box on the bottom so we had to discard any pot that was chewed too far down. We put the rest into a new sturdier box and hopefully that will keep them out.
I was exhausted by the time we finished and had to rest. He headed out to do some shopping after dumping the pot box in the compost.
My #1 intern came home and went for a walk around the perimeter of the property. She picked up large branches that were in the pasture and tossed them on the outside of the fence. She also picked up branches from the white oak in the yard.
I didn’t get anything else done until after supper when I laid the stoves and pulled shades and sat down with my #1 intern for the last installment of ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Once it finished I lit the stoves and waited for them to get going. I was finally in bed by 9PM.
On Wednesday I won’t be going to exercise class as it’s to be a beautiful day and I’m going to “Garden Gym” and plan to clean out the New South garden. The wood guy’s helper is coming and he’s going to work on the 2nd wood shed, moving and stacking wood and cleaning out the floor, then laying 3” x 5” posts down to stack on. Depending on how far he gets, we may go to the building supply store and get 4” x 4” posts to put along the wall.
But mostly I will be cleaning out gardens I hope. My intern will spend the evening washing plant trays.
