Wednesday morning was cool and foggy but the temps were to soar into the mid 80’s. So I got out at 8AM and started unloading the truckload of wood chips.
I had to load the truck again and I almost had enough to finish. But unloading 2 truckloads was enough for me for one day.
I went up and reloaded the truck for Thursday. The chip pile has shrunk a lot and it’s getting harder to scoop up stuff with the Kubota.
We are just over halfway done.
I got the equipment cleaned up and got this shot from near the garden shed. There’s just a couple spots of color in the middle pasture.
I got a shower and some lunch because my granddaughter was due to arrive at 1PM to pick all the gourds in the Big garden.
Her mom helped us and there were far more than I thought.
She didn’t like the spines on the vines, so she collected all the old zucchini and summer squashes.
I’d brought 1 feed sack out but that wasn’t even close to enough. We filled 2 to about 30# and then the last one was about 25#, so around 85# of gourds!
My granddaughter got tired of gourds and decided to become Hazel treeclimbus.
They left to get to an appointment by 2PM and I was really hot and tired by then. I sat in front of the fan for a long while playing solitaire.
On Thursday my helper friend comes at 11:30AM. It’s supposed to be cooler and cloudy in the morning, then sunny in the afternoon. I hope to get out early at 8AM and start weeding, attempting to finish all the weeding except the poison ivy by the time he arrives.
Then we will unload the truck and start mulching. I may need him to help get the rest of the mulch off the ground up at the barn. I don’t think I can get much more than 1 more truckload with the Kubota.
I think I need 5 more truckloads to finish mulching the little trees, but I suspect there’s not more than 3 left.
