The first lilac we saw, what a scent!
On Monday morning I got up just after 6AM, got the cat fed and pulled up the east shades only. It was cold in the house and I wanted to keep what heat I had until the sun warmed it up.
I went to work on my first post since Friday in between getting loads of dishes in the dishwasher. Around 9AM the sun came around to the south and I got all the shades up. Then I got ready to go to Lilacland with my friend.
She drove a very circuitous route so I could see all the flowers in the area. When we got to Lilacland, first thing we noticed was many of the lilacs had gone by.
There were enough of them left to make it worthwhile and we wandered around the site smelling the various types. Some have no scent, usually white ones, some have a delicate light scent, some are pure lilac and a delight, and we found one that was spicy lilac.
There were lots of other flowers. We noticed that there were areas where the lilacs had been removed. I hope they get new varieties to replace them.
We got home around 1PM and spent some time looking at the photo gallery in the hall.
After she left, I got some lunch and sat down for a while. I was pretty tired, still not recovered from Sunday. Then I got cold, even though it was a warm sunny day. So I ended up on the couch with the quilts reading.
When my brother got home in the evening he called me to to the front porch. If you remember, when I organized the candles, there had been a bag full of scented candles. I couldn’t wash it, so I hung it on the porch to air out.
When he came up the steps a bird had flown out of it. There was an odd nest built in it. The opening to the nest was down on the side and went into the pile of materials.
I don’t know if the bird will continue to use it or if there are eggs in it. It’s in a high noisy traffic area…
On Tuesday, I have to get laundry done and my helper friend will be here at 9:30AM. He has a lot of errands to run and I’m hoping to get the butter inventoried to see if I need to have him make more. I’m hoping to get out to a garden in the afternoon.
