Despite the very cold temps at night, there are still several flowers flowering around the house. This one, in the Old North garden, is honesty. I’ve been finding the seed discs from it all over the backyard.
On Wednesday morning I was up at 5:30AM and got my post up. I sat for a while then tried to fix the mess in the bills/budget. But the phone kept ringing and after an hour or so, I gave up and went out to get a load in the dishwasher.

Next I tried to get the laundry started. I got it collected but that’s as far as I got.
I’ve been a bit worried about the mulch hay in the driveway. It had gotten very wet so it was very heavy. I really needed stronger help to move it, but there’s none available right now. If it stayed there by the weekend it would soon be frozen in place.
There were 24 bales and well over half of these had 1 sisal string. If those sit outside for long, they break. But I had to get them out of the driveway so we could plow snow when it came.
So at 11:30AM I went out and started moving them. I couldn’t carry them, so I put one on a sled and dragged it over. I got 12 done before I had to take a break. After a short rest, I managed to move 9 more. Another longer rest, and I got the last 3 into the Big garden.
I got the mess in the driveway cleaned up and over the bank. That finished me off.

One of the phone calls in the morning was to let the Massachusetts Equipment Distribution Program know that the wired phone headset they brought out a month ago had failed. They had no replacements as almost no one but this Neanderthal has landlines any more. I knew when they brought it out that if it died, they had nothing else.
So earlier this week I had found and ordered a replacement. But until it arrives, I have to use the handheld, which is exhausting. So they arrived at 2:30PM to pick up the dead headset.

I was so exhausted and just laid on the couch watching Christmas movies until supper time.
I got the stoves going, the shades pulled, and was in bed by 8PM.
On Thursday my helper friend is here in the afternoon. I’m hoping to have him make a chicken casserole that I can freeze some of. He also has errands and some chores around the house.
I’m hoping to get outside late morning and try to clean up some of the debris that blew into the Big garden. And just maybe spread some mulch, but probably not. I also need to get laundry started, clean up the kitchen, and try to sort the bills/budget mess…
It’s to be another cold cloudy day so I’ll have to keep the wood stove going.
