I didn’t have a good night Friday night, but I really wanted to go to the tag sale. It wasn’t too far away and so once the kitchen was cleaned up and my post was up, I rested until it was time to get ready.
It was being held by an acquaintance of mine and I saw a few people from town that I knew. She hadn’t really gotten set up yet and all I found was this wooden spoon. My large wooden spoon had disappeared months ago, so now I have a replacement.
After spending a few minutes getting caught up on life, I headed home to rest a while before going out to mow at 11:30AM.
It was going to be hot, mid 80’sF, but no humidity. The grass hadn’t grown much due to less rain and cold days. I finished the yard in 2 hours and headed to the barn. That took another hour.
It was 2:30PM when I finished and I got a shower and did the windows against the sun. Then I watched movies until suppertime. Did you know if you bake plain ricotta until melted and mix in lots of basil pesto it makes a lovely light supper with cut up tomatoes and dressing?
At some point in the afternoon I went out and took photos.
East Shed garden - begonias
This lungwort in the New East garden wasn’t looking so good when I weeded it a week or so ago. But it had come back really nicely now.
In the New Herb garden, Row 1, I have this butterflyweed that has done amazingly well this year. I’ve already pulled off lots of pods. And there’s lots more. They make an awful mess when they open. So I posted on BuyNothing to see if anyone wants any.
Let’s see, Row 1 and 2 show (left) Joe Pye weed, Roman wormwood, the butterflyweed, elecampane, and wormwood at the end. On right, borage, chicory, boneset, the ginger hoophouse and tansy behind it.
Looking northeast, from left, blue flax, creeping veronica, boneset. Above that row, bee balm, ashwaganha, lemon verbena, echinacia purpurea. Front row: woad, elecampane
Row 6: yellow toothache plant, lady’s mantle, calendula, chives, balsam
The rugosa rose is still blooming and has lots of big rosehips turning orange.
New West - snapdragons
On Sunday, I hope to get out and finish the 6 trees by the Big garden. My brother wants a pot roast, so we need to get that going in the crockpot. He says he’s going to do all the weedwacking too.
In the afternoon I have another concert, the next to last in this series.
