Rabbit taken by #1 intern
I was up at 5:30AM on Thursday and got my post up then got ready to go with the wood guy’s helper to the building supply place in town for posts and cement. It was still raining, so I decided to take the car for cement and the truck for posts.
So we headed up to the barn to get the truck and after multiple tries, the starter finally engaged and we were off. It’s an AutoZone starter under warrantee and we’ve had to replace it every 2 years. It won’t last much longer and my brother will have to do it. An easy job really. So no cost, just aggravation…
We got the posts unloaded but left the cement in the car where it would be dry. We got the first posts along the wall in but needed more cement to do it properly. So I headed back to the store for 5 more bags.
Once there was sufficient cement in each hole, we sprayed and tamped until we thought we had enough water on each one.
He thought he’d start bringing wood on Saturday as they should have hardened up by then. He’ll fill in behind the left side first, and then put in 1 or 2 more posts to fill the hole in the post line. The rest of the wood would come later.
I was really tired by the time he left and sat down to rest until PT at 11:30AM. I thought it would be just evaluation on the last visit, but she had me doing lots of the exercises too. So I wasn’t in great shape when I got home.
I made lunch and sat and rested until my #4 helper arrived at 1:30PM. The kitchen was a disaster, so she helped me get a load in the dishwasher and cleaned up enough to be able to feed seedlings.
But before we could do that, I had to check all the seedlings to note what had come up, what needed lights raised, and to try to condense them into fewer trays. Once that was done she started watering the ones only getting water, then she fed the rest.
I ended up sitting down around 2:30PM as I was just too exhausted and hurting. Once she had finished she went to do some shopping before she left.
I eventually got up and put my pajamas on and lay down on the couch to watch ‘The Darling Buds of May’. Around 6PM I got the fires started as it was getting much colder outside. It wasn’t to be above upper 30’s until Saturday.
When I got up to go to bed, I got the shades pulled, checked the fires and was in bed by 9:30PM.
On Friday I could go to exercise class, but we’ll see how I feel. I also MUST start the bills/budget and get as far as I can before my #3 helper arrives at 12:30PM. She will have shopping, feeding house plants, and vacuuming to do. I’ll have to stop paperwork to do house plants, but I hope to work through the rest.
Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be beautiful so I’m hoping I can get a couple more gardens done, specifically the New East and hopefully, the West Shed. Both will be hard to do, former as it’s the biggest, and latter because it’s not been done in 2 years. We will see…
