On Monday I spent the morning making phone calls, and doing errands. Once I’d had lunch I headed out to clean out some biochar compost for the new little trees’ holes.
I’d gotten a big load of it last year and stored it at the barn. I never got it covered as advised and it was covered in grass.
I uncovered this much and there was enough to fill 2 of the big totes. I’m hoping that’s enough.
Then I went up and started shaking out sods. I don’t want to put them back, instead will mulch around the bases of the little trees. I only got 2 piles done and had to quit.
I’d had these 2 totes of cleaned compost in the Tonka garage since last year. I put some of it on the new garden at West Shed. I also found 1½ totes full of amendment I had made up for the original little trees for last year. It never got put down. I’d made up 5 batches but I think I will need some more.
My son had finished digging the holes to the proper depth and diameter.
On Tuesday my helper friend will be here and we will make up some more batches of amendment. I still need some for the original little trees, as they were never done last year. If we have time, we also need to feed all the seedlings and house plants, as my general helper didn’t finish on Saturday.
I got a notice that my trees shipped on the 9th and should be here on the 10th. So busy week ahead…
