This is my surrogate granddaughter a couple days before she turned 9. I’m hoping to see her pretty soon, maybe this weekend.
I got up at 5AM on Wednesday and got my post up. I cleaned up the kitchen and then prepared to get started on the seed starting charts. I figured that I already had all the information out, and I’ll need it in less than a month, so I might as well do it.
But when I pulled the shades up I discovered it had snowed in the night, about 3 fluffy inches. So I got dressed and went out and swept the walks and steps and then fed the birds.
It was pretty cold out and I was pretty tired from it when I got back in. So I sat by the wood stove and warmed up and rested until 8:45AM.
While I was taking snow photos something kept flitting into the view. We often have mosquitoes in the house in winter. I think they come in on the wood.
I sat down and got started. I have 6 of them to make.
I looked up at 9AM and saw the view on the left; it was snowing quite a lot. I got my photo and went back to work. All the sudden the room was bright, and it was 9:20AM. This is what I saw out the window, on the right. They always say; if you don’t like New England weather, wait a minute…
I am starting some herbs and flowers I’ve not done in a long time. I had to haul out more info for the charts. I had made quite a big mess by the time I finished them at noon.
I took a break and had some lunch. I thought about starting the seed starting notes that I use to record what I do each year. I need to go through them, remove the ones I’m not going to use, and add the new ones. Then I will be already for seed starting on March 1. Providing my seeds arrive in time…
But I decided to rest for a while instead.
Of course, there was supervision for the creating of seed starting charts.
Eventually the sun went away and I started the masonry heater mid afternoon as it was to drop to at least 12F in the night.
Someone likes to lie on the floor in front of it and warm his tummy.
Around 5PM when I was pulling shades I saw the pile of seed packets from last year. I had left them out to annoy me, and they did. So once the shades were done and the fires going, I sat down to put them into the albums. But I didn’t have a spare album.
Years ago when we were doing workshops at conferences, I had created photo albums that participants could look through. They now had lots of empty spaces in them for one reason or another. So I decided to condense them down into one or two, hopefully freeing up a third one for the packets.
I spent 3 hours until 8PM working on it. I was less than half done. So I went to bed and intended to get up early and finish the photo albums and then get the seed packets put away.
My helper friend comes at noon on Thursday and I plan to spring clean the glass front cabinets in the kitchen. I also need to clean up the kitchen and get a shower before he comes, plus get this post up.
It will be a very long day.
