On Wednesday morning it was cold in the house. The temps had dropped into the 40’sF outside, and it was only 60F inside. I got a load of dishes in the dishwasher and then started checking the seedlings.
Almost everything was up except the 4 pots at the bottom of photo. Those are paprika and it’s very old seed. I got everything that had just come up thinned and adjusted the lights. Then I went to rest and try to warm up.
Fortunately I have an automatic heater. He loves this blanket stretched across my legs.
Azalea buds
On Tuesday when I put the shades up, I noticed splashes of pink outside the windows in the living room. The azalea had started to flower.
A few of the buds nearest the house had opened.
Around noon I finished the laundry and put it away.
And a lot of the flowering house plants are doing just that.
It seems like this peace lily flowers ever 3 months.
I got another load in the dishwasher and got the kitchen cleaned up and then went and watched a movie under 2 quilts.
Mid afternoon I dressed warm as it was cold and windy outside and went out to feed the seedlings in the cold frame. That took about an hour and then I had to come in and warm up again.
We’ve had so much rain this spring that by May 1 we were taken out of drought status. And that’s not counting all the rain this month!
I never did get the house seedlings fed. I will have to do it on Thursday morning.
On Thursday I’m hoping to go do errands with my #1 intern. My helper friend arrives at noon and we will be watering house plants, doing chores, and inventorying either the cellar of the new addition for the estate stuff, or inventorying the freezers and straightening them out. There’s plenty to do inside while it rain all day and into Friday morning. It will be cold in the house though!
