It all started here. On Monday morning, after a night of unsolvable problem solving dreams, I wasn’t up to much. I’d started on the plant notes again and had nearly finished the sections. I had to go to the dining room table for something and noticed the rest of the mesclun had come up and needed moved from where it was.
That meant the porch. And it also meant before I could do that, I had to raise the shelf for the first starting of mesclun as it had grown into the light, again. So I went down to the cellar and got another light fixture, bulbs, and the 2” x 6” boards for the 2nd shelf.
Once the first light was raised up, then I had to get the 2nd one at the top at the right height.
But in the to-ing and fro-ing, I’d notice the beets were also up and needed the cover off and thinning. I decided to swop out the fixture without a hood for the one with a hood I’d brought upstairs. Now all the north side shelves have hoods on the fixture, helping more light to be directed downwards.
I got the beets thinned, light height adjusted (the kale had grown some), and everyone on the porch was happy again.
I checked the dining room window but nothing else was up yet. There’s artichokes and leeks to go still.
So I checked the roundtop window and most all of the broccoli and some of the cauliflower are up. I thinned those but left them on the mat as I didn’t have the energy to set up new shelves. Hopefully the rest of the seedlings come up soon and I can turn the mat off until next seed starting on the 15th.
I finished the sections for plant notes and just have seedling notes left to do. I got laundry started and the kitchen cleaned up.
My brother and I had planned a stirfry of asparagus, thin rice noodles, mushrooms, shrimp, and some other vegs. I started prepping that before he got home.
I watched Ensign Pulver and went to bed. My helper friend will be here on Tuesday morning and I’ve not decided what I want to do. It will depend on how well I sleep. I’d love to start the sorting in the workshop and get that done!
